WIP Wednesday : Pillow Time

What can I say? I am completely blown away... whatever would I do without you?! Thank you so very much for all of your help, thoughts and suggestions on my last post. I have so many ideas right now in my head that I don't even know where to begin, all thanks to you! I am quite a bit behind on responses right now, we are preparing for my Mother in law's arrival this week for C's birthday. Please know that every e-mail and comment mean so much to me and I will be catching up soon!

I mentioned my idea of sewing the girls clothes to K and she said she would like it a lot, then she asked what I would be sewing, when I told her dresses her face lit up and she said, "Oh, dresses?! I especially would love dresses! Please make them soon!" Could you ask for any more encouragement than that?!

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you, we can't decide which side to put the nightstand on!

I am still slowly getting around to K's room. I finished up her artwork pillow the other night. She is actually so happy with it she carries it around the house all day and also uses it as her pillow at night. Talk about melting my heart, geesh!

Speaking of pillows, I made a couple of new ones for our couch. I bought the bamboo pillow forms (for K's pillow and the couch pillows) a couple months ago when they were 50% off thinking they would be perfect. Of course, after being bamboozled with my last project I am wishing I just made my own pillow form out of wool. Oh well, live and learn, right? Anyways, I just sewed some simple covers to keep me content for now. I needed to bring spring indoors to brighten things up.

Don't mind the couch, I am hoping to get a slip cover soon

I was a little short on fabric so I had to add a line of white fabric to make it just the right length to fit. My dear friend Marina sent me the cute leaf buttons almost a year ago and I was waiting for the right project to use them on.

And for the Great Outdoor Challenge mixed with a little mini project: Here is my silly faced K climbing (as usual) in our back yard. I knit up another quick calorimetry for her a couple nights ago and she has been wearing it every day - along with that pink dress she refuses to take off!

Happy creating!!

I <3 K's art pillow! It's so beautiful! I really need to learn a bit of embroidery so I can make one too! Can you point me in a good direction for some basics? The leaf buttons are adorable and lend a nice touch to your couch pillows. I love it all! :)

There's not much more inspiring (or adorable!) than one of our little ones saying that they would "especially" like something, is there? :-)

Love your calorimetry!

Best Wishes!

The pillows are great! We are minus pillows on our couches and I'm hoping to get to those soon. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm looking forward to seeing some dresses. Enjoy you MIL's visit!

I was in my local fabric store yesterday and I though you your post yesterday. I found all the butterrick patterns on sale for 2.00! I found the one I posted (the one with the aprons). I almost bought both of them to see if you wanted the other. They are the easy sew and go from size 1-4t. Very little house on the praire. My daughter is very excited for me to make one for her. I have never sewed a dress before!

What shoes does K have on? They are so cute.

those are so pretty!

I love the colors. And the headband is perfection. I wish I had the hair to pull off something like that.

The artwork pillow came out beautifully! What a great idea. Makes me want to get to work on Aria's quilt, which does include some Anna Maria Horner voile. That stuff is soooo good!

I have been eying that fabric myself that you used on your pillows- love it! And what's funny is that a couple years ago I made pillow covers and used those same wooden leaf buttons on them!

That pillow is beautiful!
Keep crafting for them while you can mama. Sadly my daughter(who just tuned 9) no longer appreciates or even wants anymore handmade stuff made by me.....It is kinda hard to deal with.
I have a little boy who still doesn't mind being dressed up like a pixie all the time, but nothing compares to all the fun stuff you can make for a little girl.

I love the pillows....I think I might use the one you made for K as inspiration....

thing's turned out so nice; I adore the little patchwork-cussion you made for your girl! I guess after having read THAT post here I HAVE to cut at least SOME patchwork parts for one of my own... Great inspiration- and I know, there's a great woman behind it, which makes it even more precoius to be a guest here in your blog...

I just adore those pillows!

I was wondering, since you seem to always be creating... where/how do you store all of your crafting supplies?

Thank you so much everyone!
I apologize but this is another quick response.

Joy - I meant to tell you about the embroidery earlier (opps!). I learned when I was younger but I use the 'JoAnn - Your Guide to Creativity.' book when I forget a stitch or look them up online. It's a lot easier than it looks and so much fun once you get started. The blanket stitch might be one of the easiest to start with. LMK if that helps at all.

Tulsileaf - Oh how sweet! I'll have to try to make it there this weekend. I owe you a million responses and I am so sorry!!
K's shoes are Livie and Luca.

Megan - Our house is one of those 70's split levels, so it's almost like a ranch on the top level. We don't really use the downstairs at all excpet for our dogs and laundry so I turned a corner of the main space downstairs into my 'creative space'/studio. It's still a project in the works and I need more table space and shelves but I have most of my things within my reach and in view so I can always remember what I have. HTH!

I apologize again for this quick response, I hope to be back more after my MIL's visit :)
XO

I love split level homes :) We're currently in a very small apartment, so I've got projects stashed here and there and it drives my husband mad!

Enjoy your MIL! :)
