I apologize for not posting last Wednesday. I had every intention to but then I just felt too sick. I tried again the following day, but again, I felt too sick. The computer screen and/or moving images just seems to make my nausea worse. I now have a deeper appreciation for those mama bloggers that can continue blogging through their first trimester without missing a beat. Maybe they aren't as sick? I am just one of those lucky mamas that gets severe morning sickness 24/7 for the first 16 weeks or so of pregnancy. It's miserable, yes, but it is also a comfort that baby is hanging in there, especially after some spotting over the past couple of weeks. So if I can post even just two times a week right now I will take that as a small victory! I am praying that the Earth Mama Angel Baby Morning Wellness tea and Nux Vomica (homeopathic remedy) I just ordered might help, even in the smallest amount.

I did manage to pull myself together enough to make our biweekly grocery trip to Boise last Friday. Meal plans are out the window right now considering I can't step foot into our kitchen, let alone cook. But I wanted to come and help pick out some simple meals Kevin and/or K (my heroes!!) could make that wouldn't make my stomach do flips. Of course, these meals are far from our normal routine and are mostly frozen ready made items but I think we'll survive (he,he).  The grocery bill had me taken back a bit. My goodness it's a lot more expensive to buy ready made food! But again, I have to remind myself this is just a small moment in time and it soon shall pass.

The girls wore their rainbow dresses I made them for Christmas up to Boise so I took the chance to finally get a few photographs of them. I can tell by looking at the photographs that I was not feeling well because they are rushed looking (and they were!). Oh well. At least the dresses are now documented right?! Rav notes here.

How was your weekend?

P.S. - The fox and deer you see in the first photograph are on the coolest climbing structure ever!

LOVE those dresses. I so wish I could knit like you. Its amazing.
I really hope the morning sickness passes soon for you - its horrid. Warm water and lemon helped me - and I ate my bodyweight in ginger biscuits (to the point that now I cannot stand them!)
Oh those dresses are stunning!! And I'm sending much sympathy and hugs, I've been ok blogging in two of my first trimesters but with Kitty I was definitely avoiding computers and kitchens for the first three months in favour of crashing asleep on the sofa! A few weeks of ready meals sounds perfect!
I had severe morning sickness all the months of all 3 pregnancies unfortunately. Vomiting over a 9month pregnant belly is horrific. This isn't a cheap solution or a very natural one like I'd hoped but Lemonaide vitamin water was all I could stomach during my last pregnancy. Even water made me heave. Something about that flavor helped and I was never able to recreate it in my kitchen. Also, homemade waffles had enough substance to settle my stomach and kill the hunger for a little while so I could eat nutritious foods in small amts OR they came up easily so I didn't want to cry as much. I started judging foods based on how easily they'd come up because honestly I didn't trust ANYTHING I put in my mouth after a while. Orange juice? *shudder* NO!

This too shall pass. Just keep believing. 9 months of ill feeling is a small price to pay for such a sweet little bundle of smoosh at the end, even when it feels absolutely interminable. I cried a lot I'm ashamed to say. But that baby at the end? Worth it.
Goodness thats ALOT of knitting & yarn! Beautiful dresses! Great job! I wish we had somewhere to hang a lovely play structure like that. I've admired it too. You have it indoors right? We rent so I don't think our landlord would be cool with the ceiling supports plus our place is tiny & cramped as it is. No trees in our apt. bldg's yard. I wish! My oldest could sure use it though. Praying that you feel better soon & that the remedies help. God bless! Oh, btw my oldest is enjoying raising the caterpillars he finds in our garden as several types seem to enjoy the kale. Our last was a cocoon that led to a small moth & he just today found a fancy green chrysalis on the sugar snap peas! Not monarchs but fascinating to see the transformation & be surprised by what comes out. He's tickled for sure! Blessings dear Nicole. :)

We do have the structure inside as we have the same problem - no trees :( AND I am so glad you mentioned the kale. I went and checked on my garden for the first time in weeks and my kale is nibbled away to nothing but on it are few little eggs and some small green caterpillars. Can't wait to see what they become!
The dresses turned out so beautiful!! Get well soon!
I do hope the morning sickness improves soon, in some ways though it can be comforting as it usually means are okay in there! The dresses are gorgeous. take care. x
I was like you in both my pregnancies. Poor thing! I was so ill and as the main cook who makes everything from scratch there were many occasions I had to get hubby to drive all the way in to town after working all day up the mountain to get takeaway on really rough day. Oh and takeway costs a fortune! If I was living in the same town as my own mother of course she would be there to cook all our meals. So I know exactly how you feel. I love the anything rainbow. The girls dresses are so pretty and of course the girls are always so beautiful. Take care and rest during this time and just go with the extra food expenses as it won't be forever.
I remember those months of nausea. It is so HARD! I felt weak, and tired and helpless....it's a terrible feeling for a mother with busy children. For the record, most things that were "normal" for me were dropped by the wayside as I simply tried to survive those weeks, so you are exceptional (in my opinion) to keep up with the blog even two days/week. As you know, it will pass, I sympathize with you.
I love how you made the dresses in reverse of one another. So cute :)

Wonderful work on those dresses!
The rainbow dresses turned out so sweet. And the girls look beautiful in them. Hope the morning sickness goes away soon and you find things that help in the meantime. Does ginger help at all? I love to make fresh ginger tea. Love to you!

I can't seem to get past the taste of ginger right now :( But K has been gathering peppermint leaves and chamomile flowers from the garden for me and steeping them for just a bit is helping a little :)

Hope your nausea subsides. A late congrats on the precious new baby. Your blog is always so sweet and wholesome and its just a pleasure to see such a sweet family. Also of all the blogs I have seen yours seems like the most genuine. What I mean is you are just being you and not putting on some 'persona' or marketing yourself. I like that. God bless you and yours.

Oh thank you so much Samantha, truly. That means a lot to me <3
I love those dresses. Question though: how much yardage did you use for each color? I looked up the cost of the yarn since it was so pretty but its $$$. $20 a hank? I'm considering for my daughter but I feel my husband will murder me if I spend $120 on a dress for my 5 year old. :(

Hey Lauren :) I don't know exactly how much yardage I ended up using for each dress but I can tell you that 1 skein of each color was enough to make two large sized dresses with some still leftover for other projects. I bought my yarn from people's stashes on Ravelry so most skeins were closer to $10 each. I try to buy most of my yarn this way. It saves a lot! HTH!
Is there a pattern for those dresses - I have a couple of grand daughters who would look really cute in them? As for the morning sickness - mine lasted almost all of my second pregnancy, my husband said he should have bought shares in Mylanta!

Yes :) It is bloom by Georgie Hallam. You can purchase it via ravelry. HTH!
