Living in the Moment

I don't know exactly how I do it. I always have the best of intentions but then I somehow fall behind. At this moment I have managed to fall behind in just about everything - e-mails, phone calls (any correspondence, really), deadlines, housework, sewing...I could go on, but I won't bore you. Falling behind is not the end of the world by any means but it makes me feel a bit inadequate and guilty for not following through on things. You want to see just how far behind I am right now? I'll give you a visual (besides the mess Bhakti is sitting on in the picture above). May I present my desk:

I always joke around with Kevin that the state of my desk represents my current state of mind. So I think you can understand where my head is at! No wonder I am having a hard time finishing up projects - How could anyone with that mess? Geesh!

I gave up on it all today and went out with my family to the local air show. Kevin has to work it every year for his job and K loves going to see the planes, so it all works out quite nicely.

This year it was a bit too hot for our taste so we only stayed a few hours.
We went back home and got down to business starting with some monkeys helping with the dishes (because we didn't have any clean ones to make dinner).

Eeeek! We haven't ventured out to get groceries yet this pay period, but luckily we did stop by the farmer's market yesterday on the way to Baby L's specialist appointment (news on that later)...Zucchini for dinner, it is!

Eh, I'll catch up another day, (ahem starting with comments on here!)right now I want to enjoy where I am at.
Here's to living in the moment!

I'm so glad you had a nice day even without us ;-). But oy! Where did this crazy heat come from??? We tried berry picking (photos at my place), but it was just too hot! So, we'll still have plenty of room to go another round with you and your beauties. Thinking of you and wee L, and hoping for next weekend! xoxo

Seriously! This heat is killing me!! \
Monday??? :)
You sound like me...and I am just finally coming to realise that the deadlines that enslave me are ones I create for myself. I say yes to EVERYTHING to the point that I get overwhelmed and can't accomplish ANYTHING! I'm learning slowly to make room only for the things that benefit my family...but it's hard work! Love those dresses...can you recommend a bonnet pattern? Love these ones!

Oh yes, you and I are very much alike!
I love the kingpod.com bonnet pattern. That's the one we always use.
BTW, love the "accusing" look on your kitty's face...mine gives me that all the time ;-)
Bless you for admitting that things don't always get done and for showing us photographic proof! :-) I always have a million projects sitting around and worry that I'm the only one who can't seem to keep up!
The cuteness and beauty of your family are too much!!! Your pics are amazing, and I bet that air show was WAY more fun than cleaning! If my house represented my brain... oh boy! It's just crazy.

To quote you quoting someone else:
Cooking and cleaning can wait till tomorrow,
For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow.
So settle down cobwebs, dust go to sleep,
I'm nursing my baby and babies don't keep

That's really where I'm at. It can all wait. My kids are growing up faster than I can take! Thank you for sharing your beautiful world!

Thank you so much!

Tomorrow is here...maybe I should clean now?
How funny, our local airshow was this weekend and we volunteer every year too! We're in Sonoma County, Northern Cali. :)

There is something to admitting that our lives can be chaotic and out of focus. I know the state of your desk is a bit messy, but at this moment, other things take priority. I always see summer as a time to let go and enjoy the bright sunshine and the calling of the garden and other activities. Autumn and Winter will be here soon enough, and then indoors is where you will be.

Your desk, sewing, knitting and such will be taken care of then :-D

Enjoy the beauty of this season.

Blessings,

Maria

Falling behind - I know that well. Wanna get a picture of my desk?
Love the wool above your desk.
Funny you should post this about the air show, as I was in Beaverton visiting my sister and got to view a bit of the show from her backyard! I had remembered when you posted about this last year and we will have to go next year, as my boys would LOVE it!

It's so much fun! Perhaps we could even meet up :)
Oh, I know just how you feel. When I should be enjoying these last couple of weeks with the six children I have as we await the birth of our seventh - instead I am thinking of all I want to get done and creating more chaos in the process.
I love all your yarn!
THank you for sharing.
Warm wishes,
Tonya
I am so at exactly the same point right now!! Make some yummy tea (the yogi nursing tea is fabulous!) and try working on an area for 15 minutes at a time...so amazing what it will do! Then I do 15 minutes in a totally different area, then 15 minutes of something fun like knitting. A day of this will really help get things tidied back up, trust me!! Off to do the very same thing here :) (Oooh, and your yarn shelf looks dreamy!!)
There's no need for excuses - we all have seasons of life that are more full (stress filled too) than others. I like to remind myself that I can't do everything. I'm totally behind on lots & lots of things too. That's really okay. And I can't make everyone happy. And that's okay too. Can I be faithful with what I can do? That's the question that I need to ask myself. BTW - your desk makes mine look like an avalanche hit it - at least you've got all that lovely colored yarn to cheer you up! :)
Sounds like you had fun. The airshow fly's right over our house. So we love watching all the jets and planes.
Love those little girls in their dresses and bonnets! Adorable.

Oh, if you could see the state of my craft closet. Yikes! I'm going to hopefully tackle it tomorrow. I'm a bit scared tho. No wonder my son think there's a monster in there. Yep, the fabric monster gathering on the floor! lol
I know what you mean, my desk is mess mess mess..... I'm so glad you decided to go out and have some fun with the family, and how adorable do your girls look! I am loving their outfits in these pictures!
Oh, this happens to all of us, remember that! I find that trying to clear the mess on the desk can have such a profound impact mentally/emotionally. :)
Also, could you share what pattern you used for the girl's dresses? I've been looking for a simple one to use for my daughter.
As always, thank you for sharing so honestly and beautifully here.
Blessings,
Adrie

Thank you Adrie for your kind words! The dresses were made using the' See and Sew Yes it's easy' pattern B5165.
Those little hands holding on to each other are the sweetest thing! Littlest ones are always good at climbing up onto the counters!
It's a neverending list of mostly good things that fill our lives, it will never get "done". Enjoy your moments! XOXO
