Harvest Festival

Last weekend was the Harvest Festival at the girls' future school. This was our first event (that all of us were able to attend) at the school. I have to say it was truly magical. Have you ever had one of those moments when you suddenly realize you have found your place, your niche, your home? I can't think of any other way to describe how I felt that day. It was just in the air - this is it! It was such a huge moment it was almost spiritual. I wasn't the only one who felt it, either. Even Kevin and both of the girls were in bliss and didn't want to leave (3 hours later we did have to go though, poor C was exhausted!). We made some wonderful connections and learned so much (thanks to K and C's sweaters and hats, surprisingly they were the top conversation starter there), we want to be a part of this wonderful school and community now but will patiently wait for K's first year of school next September... or at least try...

I have a lot of pictures to share from the day so I will let them speak for us :)

Local carrots are the best!

Wet felting acorns

I'll be back next week to announce the sign ups for the winter ornament swap.
Have a great weekend!

Wow, what an amazing community you have nearby. I'm only an eensy bit jealous. :) I love the pumpkin bowling! And the girls look adorable so, of course, they were big conversation-starters. ;) Have a great weekend!

I'm sooooo jealous. This looks wonderful! Did you make that wee pilot cap? I am looking for a pattern just like that one.

How very sweet and wonderful for your whole family. Thank you for sharing. I so wish we had something like that anywhere near where we live.

Love it! The pics were gorgeous! My family and I go to a pumpkin fest as well but I couldn't make it this year being 8 months pregnant. So sad. Just doesn't feel like fall!

Oh I am sooo jealous that you will be able to send your children to a waldorf school and be involved with a waldorf school! You are so lucky! It looks like a very fun day!

I loved reading your post. It brought back memories of when I own two girls were small (they are 11 and 15 now). I got a lump in my throat just remembering those magical days. Not that we don't have wonderful time together now:) They are just a bit less frequent and harder to come by because my girls are often out in the world doing things on their own. Making their own magical momnents I guess:)

I just came across your blog and I.am.in.love.
I am just beginning to homeschool my children and have a very eclectic start. So far we are very hands on and do a lot of pretend but the more I read about the waldorf method the more I'm leaning on really embracing it.
Your blog is lovely... :)

What a comfort it is to find a place where you feel at ease and everything just "fits."

I think we may have to find a way to recreate the pumpkin bowling and beeswax leaves here on our end -- such neat ideas to welcome autumn!

Thank you everyone, I, too, wish I could attend this school :)

Kate - I didn't make C's pilot cap, Shelley Caskey (waldorfmama) made it for her.

Amanda - It's the Portland Waldorf School.

Thank you everyone for your memories and thoughts <3
