Crafting On

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture or two, post it on your blog, on Instagram #craftingon and/or Flickr and then share it with the rest of us by leaving your link below.

This post is more of what I recently finished instead of what I am working on. I couldn't get it together enough to snap a photo of my current WIP - my day has been spent cooking and baking for K's upcoming birthday. I love all the prep that goes on around here the day before birthdays.

Anyway, back to the photos. Baby F needed a bag to corral his toys that stay in the van. Side note - He is my first baby that has needed special car toys to keep him happy for car rides. We even *gulp* had to pick up some plastic, flashy, noisy toys from our local Goodwill. I sewed him a simple drawstring bag with his leftover birthday fabric. C added the fun pompoms to the strings. I love her little touch to this bag. I actually tasked her to make me some more pom poms for a pair of Baby F's longies. Pompom all the things!! We recently bought a pompom maker and C has gone crazy with it (maybe I have, too). I think our little house will soon be filled with pompoms (envision the Trouble with Tribbles).

What are you working on? Happy creating!

Pom-poms just make life so happy- there are definitely worse things to be overrun by and they're the perfect touch on his bag. And don't worry, you're not the only one with car toys that would never usually pass muster, but are allowed in the spirit of long car journeys being fun!!
Gorgeous! The idea with pompons at the end of ties is brilliant! I'll definitely make some too- one day and am very grateful for your great inspiration (you inspire me to so many things...)

This is terribly cute!! I love that craft sharing idea, here is mine! And about to get into birthday preps too...I'm excited!
Isn't it funny how something quite simple like pom poms can finish a project off perfectly. Love the fabric you've used.
Love that bag! The fabric is adorable and the pompoms coordinate perfectly.
My daughter told me only a few weeks ago, "Mom, Everyone Loves pompoms!" in the I can't believe you don't know this voice.
We are pom pom crazy too. although we have been making them by winding them round our fingers, but they do need a lot more hairdressing that way! Maybe we should get a pom pom maker :-) It's instant gratification that way. Love the bag and yes some babies do need a bit of extra entertainment while in the car. I am remembering your baby is born under Acquarius - those little ones are always into everything and can get bored easily without mental stimulation. It figures :-) They are very chatty - enjoy!
my son was the same, when he got angry with the car ride he'd throw those toys up to the front! eep!

An adorable bag! And great photos of the same. I had a little green toy car in a little green suede bag that my mother made for me when I was about ten. I took it everywhere. It was eventually stolen at school, but I have never forgotten the "magic" of it, the mood and joy that surrounded it. I think this is a wonderful idea of yours.

(I linked up one of my eBay listings as I am currently blog-less. I hope you don't mind (you may delete it if you do). Your family of blogs that I just discovered earlier this week--all of you so busy, kind, and creative--has inspired me to get started with my own private Christmas Mart online this year (I mean on eBay). Thank you for inspiration and motivation!)
In love with that bag fabric!! And the pompoms are perfect for it:) Very cute!!
What a lovely little project - I wanna make one! You always amaze me....
What fabric is that!? It's dreamy!
My third child is the one who has the use of an Ipad. (Embarrassed face!) But when my eldest was little, nothing disturbed her naptime. When my second was little, we flexed the day around his schedule. For my poor, neglected third child, naptime was something that happened, if she was lucky, in the car en route to one of her siblings' activities. So we have also made a great many accommodations to keep everyone happy. My third has had the life I swore my first would never have to endure! But we do what we can. She is still lovely and creative, and a sweet child. In some ways, she's the most "Waldorfy" of all my kids. So even with screentime, everything can turn out OK.
could you tell me the name of that fabric, please? one of my grandsons would just LOVE it! Thank you.
