We had our first snow of the season last week and to celebrate we called off school and spent all day playing in it. It felt like the right thing to do. The cold snow also brought about lots of hot tea, hot cocoa and even some knitting. K was relieved we already put her snow stick in the ground weeks ago. My crazy adventurous husband even slept outside in his tent to test out all of his cold weather gear for K-9 SAR. I found him thawing in bed next to Little L the next morning. He actually did stay out in his tent (with the huskies as his company) all night but came in to use the restroom in the morning and couldn't bring himself to go back out. I don't blame him!

The first snow of the season is the perfect reason to call off school! :) I'd love to hear more about the Snow Stick. Did she make it in her Waldorf School? Is it 24 inches long with a mark every inch? I'd love to have my girls make one during lesson time! Have a great start to the week!
Hey Shel! K made that snow stick a few weeks back for her weather block (Christopherus Waldorf curriculum 3rd grade). It was a great introduction to using a saw, measuring and inches. We did want to use a wood burning tool to mark the inches but ended up just using a marker. Her snow stick is marked every 1/2"
