Fledglings

We spied with our little eyes... fledglings one fledglings two Fledglings three fledgling four! fledglings fledglings fledglings Four little magpie fledglings in our lone backyard tree. What an adorable sight to see!

We have been hearing them for awhile but never did see them until now. They were low enough that even all three kiddos could see them (and our dogs could have them as a snack. Needless to say, our dogs won't have free rein of the backyard for a little while.) Mama and Papa dive-bombed me a couple times as I snapped these quick photographs, reminding me that they were nearby. Understanding their concern I quickly stepped away and went back to our patio. We are all looking forward to keeping up with this little family for days to come!

How wonderful to have these in your garden :)

We have been watching the sparrows in our garden and grey herons on a walk earlier in the week.

I was surprised I was able to get that close. I hope we have more next year!
So sweet! We had a fledgling on the ground last year and were so worried that she would get hurt! Needless to say, we were thankful for Google that day as we learned that was all part of her learning process and the mama bird was surely close by keeping a watchful eye on her babe!

Oh wow! Do you know what type of bird it was? My biggest fear is them landing on the ground with our dogs out. I might make a temporary blockade to keep the birds safe until they fly off.
