a little catch-up

Christmas sweater Christmas sweater Christmas sweater Christmas sweater I'm done too cold!! bye-bye!! my turn, Mama more pants for L new pants new pants

C wore her Christmas sweater today and I thought it might be a good opportunity to play a little catch-up with the handmade Christmas gifts. We went outside behind our house to snap a few quick pictures. It was freezing out so I just had to get it done and make do with what I had. I think she stood still a total of two minutes and then grabbed her coat and ran back inside. I didn't blame her!

The sweater was my stress knitting to keep my mind preoccupied during the moving preparations. I modified a free baby pattern from Tin Can Knits to fit C (a size 5-6). The measurements came out pretty well. Due to the lace pattern she has to wear a wool undershirt underneath it but that's okay. My little ones tend to wear wool under layers everyday, anyways. She has a pink one on in these pictures but you can't tell. The lace really pops when she wears a darker color underneath it instead.

You can see my rav notes here.

After C ran off Little L said, "please take my picture pants." I knew he was proud that he picked out his clothes today, so I appeased him. Then he decided he wanted his coat off just like big sister. I snapped a couple more of him and then he was done and ready to go back inside to warm up, as was I.

Those pants were actually finished long before we moved here but I completely forgot to document them in all the hustle and bustle. I am glad he has them now because they are one of the only pairs of pants he has that don't fall off his bottom!

His pants were made with my usual go-to pattern from Handmade Beginnings.

Beautiful, I love the jumper!
What a pretty sweater, it looks lovely :) The trousers are great too, love the fire engines
Lovely! Both handmade with love, you can tell. :-)
Both so cute! The pants patten is the one thing I had my eye on in handmade beginnings... I really like them. I have been making my youngest pants from Growing Up Sew Liberated which are also cute, but I like the back panel in yours! Handmade Christmas presents are the best. I did a lot this year and am thrilled that my kids are wearing theirs so much. When people ask, did you buy that or make it? They are so proud to announce that I made it for them. Even my 11 year old is still a big fan of mama-made.

Oh Tabitha - you made my day by sharing about your 11 year old. Each year I wonder - will this be the year when my K will no longer appreciate handmade? I have hope that day never comes <3
Hey Nicole this has nothing to do with knitting :) but I happened on this website a few days ago, and while I'm not currently vegan, I can't stop looking at the pictures and recipes of this lady's site. It's called deliciouslyella.com and her food is all plant based, natural and whole, free from weird stuff. She even has videos and has an app in development. Anyways, if you didn't already know about it I thought you might like it.

Thank you so much for sharing that website! I never saw it before and we are in a food rut at the moment so this is PERFECT. Thank you!
Every boy should have picture pants
They are wonderful, and I love the purple jumper.
The sweater is gorgeous. I love the pants. I've sewed several pairs for Alex and am thinking of making more for spring/summer and just raising the hemline for a shorts version.

Oh I like that idea! It gets really hot here so L will actually need shorts this summer!
Beautiful sweater, and I love the pants. I actually made a pair for my baby nephew with that same truck fabric on the back yoke!

Oh how sweet! It's adorable fabric, isn't it?
What a sweet sweater, Nicole! It really is such a nice color.

Thank you! She loves purple.
Can I just say that I think your new surroundings are so beautiful? They are like a great big open breath. I hope you are settling in and adjusting. I think Idaho has many good things in store for you.

Thank you, Grace <3 Yes, we are really seeing what God's plan was with this move ;)
I just love that truck fabric that you used on his pants. Do you remember who makes it? I have a little guy that would be over the moon for anything with trucks on it.

I found the truck fabric at JoAnns over the summer. I wish I had the name of it but it's buried in a box somewhere at the moment :(
