Keep Calm Craft On {crafting on}

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture and share it with the rest of us by leaving your link below.

KCCO -Kitten Mittens

KCCO -Kitten Mittens

I finished up a belated birthday gift for one of our dearest friends. Kitten mittens! Perfect for a cat loving little girl, no? K picked out the yarn colors saying her friend would love them together. I hope she does! They are quite bright and cheerful.

I am re-thinking my math and praying with each stitch that I have enough yarn left for C's special project. It's going to be close, that's for sure! Speaking of that, I think I should try to knit the sleeves at the same time, but I only have one set of double pointed needles in the size I need - What other method could I use to knit both at the same time?

Oh, gorgeous mittens!
I always knit both sleeves at the same time on the one circular needle to ensure they're the same length! You will need a circular needle with a fairly long cable though. Google something like "knitting two socks On one circular needle" and you should find heaps of videos and tutorials of how to set it up. Of course it's the same principle for socks and sleeves. All the best!
So, so cute!!!
Those are adorable!
Sooo cute!! I love thos mittens and so would my girls!! Knitting two things at the same time on the same needle is definitely a few millenia down the road for me...I'm sure you will pick it up just fine.
Those are so cute! I found a pattern for hedgehog mittens that I can't wait to make! I know what you mean about second guessing your math....whenever I start to think I might run out of yarn my mind starts doing hilarious things and I knit faster...as if I can beat the yardage. ;) I'm using magic loop for the first time right now...it's not my favorite but it's certainly doable. I have seen knitting two socks at once can be done, but you would have to "ask google"...oh, and you could use two circular needles if you don't have more dpns...I guess I'm just not sure how exactly you want to go about it, but I'm sure you will sort out a way! I just can't wait to see what you're making!! xo
I think she will love her new bright and cheerful and warm kitten mittens, especially as we are heading into fall!
I'm constantly knitting two socks at a time, toe up! It's not difficult. But, you could just split the ball of yarn in two equal parts (to the gram!) and I guess that would work out fine too. Just knit both of the sleeves until there is no more yarn.
You could do the sleeves using magic loop, it's so much easier than dpn's. Those mittens are so cute!
Those mittens are so cute! And she's going to love the colours. I'm sure I had some similar to these when I was little, possibly with rabbits instead of kittens? Can't help with the knitting from first hand experience but I know I've seen my sister-in-law working on two at once so I'm certain it's possible!
So cute! I know my little girl would love those.
Here's mine for the week: http://rowanandoak.com/rowan-oak/2012/09/sewing.h...

I'm trying to remember how to turn the heel on sock number two. Oh, how I wish I lived closer to a knitting shop in times like this :)
