Ahem

I am pushing myself as far as I can, chugging away on C's birthday present. I dubbed it the 'C Ingalls Wilder'. I can't get over how ridiculously cute this is. I really want to finish it up so I can see it in all of it's glory on C. I know it will be just perfect. I feel like I should include some kind of Laura Ingalls Wilder gift to go with it, but what? We have her booksand the paper dollsalready - any suggestions?

I am using my leftover Shalom yarn to make this even more special for her. The girls' both love it when they get something knit out of the same yarn that was used for someone else in the family. The little things that make them happy!

The funniest thing happened today as I was taking these pics. Well it's not really funny but I am trying to laugh at it all. Using my freshly repaired and back from the shop 50mm lens, I perched on top of our coffee table to take just a couple of quick photos. If you have ever used a 50mm lens then you know how you really have to back up quite a bit from your subject to get it in the shot - hence the standing on the coffee table. Well, as I was coming down from the coffee table I tipped it causing the table, myself and my camera to come down with a big thump. The table survived, I survived, my camera appears to have survived (I'll need to play with it more later to be certain) but my lens did not. I saw that the filter was shattered which is not too big of a deal but then I tried to focus the lens and it was jammed. So, back to the shop it goes. In the mean time I shall just have to practice patience. I will keep calm and just craft away my woes. Although, this really tempts me to go further in to debt with my credit card and buy a wide angle lens to use, but I know I can not and should not. Kindly shake me a few times to remind me I can't let us go further into debt!!

I keep forgetting to snap pics of the girls' water bottle carriers from the root children. I'll try to remember at some point this week.

What about a rag doll like Charlotte? Or a Button string like Laura and Mary made for Carrie? It could be easily turned into a necklace.
Shake, shake, shake. Don't charge it. Take a breath and do without. So frustrating about your shattered filter, though. I know nothing about cameras but anything that goes to the shop is bound to cost a lot of money. But to shift the focus back onto appreciating goodness...

How about a simple set of hair ribbons to match? It seems like little Laura loved those for her Sunday best. I love what you're knitting!
I think I may be more excited about this project then you are! How is the yarn holding out? What about a matching bonnet? Preferably one with that old style pouf-y back? I was also going to suggest a little doll made in 'Charlotte' style. Maybe to go in a pinafore pocket?

I've always wanted to make a bunch of these stacking pumpkin cushions: http://www.marthastewart.com/267022/decorating-a-... (you'll have to scroll through the pictures to see them) so that the kids could sit on pumpkins to play that Laura and Mary in the attic. So far I've only managed to make one. But my guess is that at this point you could probably use less to make, not more.

*like* Laura and Mary in the attic. I can't type!
A needle felted little dog Jack?
Gosh, that's pretty! So sorry about your lens. A month or so ago my daughter knocked my camera off the counter and a little piece that connects the lens broke, though, it still fit on and everything seemed OK, at least for a day or two anyway. Now I'm not sure what's wrong and have to send it in. :( I'm using my husband's point and shoot right now and really am missing my own. I haven't even sent it into the shop yet! Out of sight, out of mind, I suppose....

I love love! the project. I also think a rag doll would go perfectly with it. Or a braided yarn doll that you could make if you have any yarn left over.
I LOVE the dress:) It is just darling...THIS book looks cute:) http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0064462048/ref=si... hope the link works:) Good luck with your camera! That stinks that it broke right after you had it fixed!!!! :(
Ah! So cute!! We really love the "My First Little House" books, Amazon carries them, they are short excerpts of the stories and the illustrations are so lovely. So sorry about your lens! Happy birthday crafting dear!
Love your knitting, so inspiring and what a sunny colour :-) Bummer about your camera lens!
That is the cutest little dress!

So sorry about your lens :-( but it sounds like you're staying positive about the whole situation.
Hopefully I'll be joining your "crafting on" later today (after the coffee kicks in), but I wanted to say: check craigslist for lenses. My husband is an obsessive craigslist checker and he often finds decently priced things that we want-but-don't-need.

Also. My one regret about not having a little girl - all the adorable clothing I could have made for her! Argh! (:
This pinafore is so beautiful! I love the colors you chose... the peachy-colored center band is really a nice touch - so soft and perfect for spring!
So cute! Wish I had some ideas for you in regards to a Little House themed gift. My only thought was a bonnet in a matching calico.
You make me wish I had girls to knit for! The dress is cute. Sorry to hear about the lens. very frustrating. hope you are sleeping better, too.
that pinafore is so darling. i'm sure C will love it! i'm sorry to hear about your lens--that just figures!
Love the dress! Handmade clothes are always so fabulous & fun. :) I think making an animal from the story either knit, crochet, or needle felted would be so cute!

Love the dress! Yeh, no charging on the card! lol. My dslr is currently broke but it's older and would in all likelyhood cost more to fix than to buy a used one. And I don't have the $ to do either so am using my point and shoot and my phone. :(
I'm going to sell it for parts I think. {I think the sensor is toast} Maybe someday I'll get another dslr - but right now it's just not in the budget.
Thanks for the linky!!
Oh, Nicole, the dress is so sweet, I thought it a dolly dress at first! And I love the colors.

Sorry about the filter...I am still using a camera don't like (takes dreadful indoor shots!) but no money to replace it with something better. C'est la vie...We have the Little House set of books and the paper dolls, and I am looking forward to re-reading them some time when Gemma is maybe 5 or so.
I love the pumpkins in the attic idea, and a little rag doll too of course. But my computer is having issues and not loading your pictures! Pinafore?? I need to see!!! So I shall return later tonight...
XOXO
But I can't believe I can't see the dress!
Thank you for being my sewing friend :)

Beautiful dress! How about some "slates" and chalk? They sell small chalk boards at the craft store.
It is so adorable! I love the colours! Have you thought of the Little House Craft book?
This dress is indeed ridiculously adorable!! I feel inspired by you lovely blog.
