Keep Calm Craft On {crafting on}

004

There is some top secret knitting going on around these parts. In fact, it's so top secret that I can't hold back the giggles as I look at this photo above. You see, after we arrived home from dropping K off at school yesterday morning I devised a plan that involved getting Baby L up on my back (in the ergo) and keeping C busy with a yummy snack. Once I was certain C was content enough to not leave her spot I ran downstairs (with Baby L flapping his arms like they were my wings) grabbed my camera, knitting project and C's water bottle and quietly but quickly proceeded to sneak out the laundry room door on to our partially ripped-up deck/patio area. I then snapped a quick picture and ran back in like nothing ever happened. I got a rush pulling it off - in a house with three inquisitive children that is no easy task!

Anyways, my secret ninja project is the Waldorfmama felted water bottle carrier by my friend Shelley Caskey. I am making one for each girlie of mine as a gift from the Root Children who are due to arrive next week.

I am also pondering and then pondering some more on C's birthday dress for this year. Right now I have it narrowed down to this oneand this onebut that's not to say I won't change my mind all together and go with something completely different in the end. Hmmm... maybe one of these could be for Easter dresses this year. I like to just add more and more to my never ending list - can't you tell?!

If you would like to link up and share your current works in progress please leave your link below. It can now be either to your specific blog post or Flickr photo. There are no rules, only that your link is current and something about a craft project (of any kind) you are working on. Don't forget that there is now a KCCO Flickr group for you to share your crafting photos at anytime.

It's as simple as that. Remember your post can be from any day of the week, it doesn't have to be today. Now please share and inspire us all!

What are you working on? Happy creating!

Oh, I love that little dress with the chicken pockets!!! <3 <3 <3 Your description of stealing a moment for that shot cracked me up. I did the same on Sunday-- trying to take a pretty picture of raindrops on the cherry blossom buds in the back yard with two kids yelling out the slider about wanting a snack, now! Such a charmed life.
I love little dresses like that on little girls. Sadly I don't think my 12 y/o daughter will be in it lol... although my youngest son might :) he'll try all manner of combinations of late!

looking forward to seeing the finished project
the chicken dress is too cute!
Super cute dresses - what a hard choice ;-)
Those water bottle carriers are the greatest gifts! My girls (and niece and friends daughters) love them! I have made many and they are always a big hit, fun and fast to knit. I am sure that whatever dress pattern you choose it will turn out to be adorable!
Nicole, that is hilarious! Top secret photo shoot! I am planning to make the oliver +s ice cream dress for my girls' easter baskets. I've never sewn a garment or followed a complicated pattern before so I'm intimidated! I'm amazed at how much crafting you get done, wow! :)
Very pretty colour. And you got a super pretty photo even if it was a drama to do it :D
I love secret knitting! Love the colour too, I'm sure your girls will love them!
Lovely dresses and beautiful yarn - can't wait to see what it becomes!
Ah the sweet dresses. I sewed all the time for my oldest,my youngest, not so much. I love the Oliver pattern. Gorgeous yarn color!
Myself, I'm a fan of the shorter dresses with capri pants underneath - but that might be my TomBoy nature speaking out. Lovely pinks. I like the idea of a little knitted present for each for Easter.
Oh gosh, I love the mental image of your frantic dash downstairs to get a picture before dashing back again. Sounds like Mission Impossible! That yarn is an amazing colour :)
Ahhh I missed KCCO again!! Aahhh sorry. I thought I was going to have a baby by now. Sigh, three days and counting (overdue) and crabby as usual!

I love the color choices for your bottle. So sad there will be no pink in my future! Maybe a grandbaby girl?! I love Shelly's water bottle carriers! Sadly her pattern does not fit my Klean Kanteen water bottle. Last year when I was pregnant with my other baby and nusring my then middle, I had to drink insane amounts of water, I went to REI and bought the biggest one they sell (a $70 half gallon!!!) Did you even know they come in half gallons? I did not! BUT Shelly's pattern makes it easy to modify for sizes, but the water in the half gallon, plus the heavy S.S makes the yarn just fall apart under the weight.

My boys also do not like their REI water bottles covered as they can't see the "fish" and "squid" design.

Anyway I'm rambling as usual! I'm glad your still plugging away at this blog, I really treasure your sweet little posts!

Blessings,
Samantha (Woodland Woolens)
Oooh, I really like the water bottle cover. This would be great for my canning jar water bottle. (aka, canning jar with a lid that has a hole drilled in it for a metal straw...) I'm always afraid that I'm going to drop the thing while i'm out and about and have it shatter everywhere.
They're all pretty dressers - and I do love bloomers on a little girl!
Both those dresses are really cute! I can't wait to see which one you choose :-)
haha I loved your story about the water bottle covers, what a nice surprise =)
I stumbled upon your Crafting On weekly craft while looking for some inspiration. This is exactly what I was looking for. All the projects are gorgeous. Can't wait to dive in.
My daughter has the chickie dress in green and lavender, made for her by her grandmother at my request when she was 2. It's a great dress! She is now 6 and slim and can still wear it as a tunic! However, my mother, who has been sewing continually for over 40 years and is an excellent seamstress, did say the pattern has odd directions.
or maybe she was 3 when it was made.... either way she has gotten a ton of wear out of it!
