Market Time

Toadstools for the girls' kitchen

We had such a fun family weekend. We celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday *cough* Because Kevin forgot last Sunday... *cough* and it was such a sweet day. Then we spent Sunday out and about. We started out early in the morning checking out a local flea market. Kevin, C and the dogs went for a walk while K and I looked around. I was quite giddy to be there, I love hunting for vintage treasures, and being there with K brought back so many fond memories of flea market shopping with my Grandpa when I was little. It felt so good to be there and to chat with all of the vendors. I felt very much at home.

$5 for a set of five of my favorite canning jars? Now that's more like it!

Cute little tin for some sewing notions

I found so many goodies I wanted to bring home with me (and oh so well priced) but time and our budget limited me to just a few items. *Need I mention my dream truck was for sale there?! An old 1940's Ford farm truck! Someday perhaps...*

A lovely vendor gave K a book

K left the market with an angel she fell in love with

After our flea market fun, we all went to Nara's search and rescue training about an hour away (which explains why the flea market find pics are in the woods!). It was in a different location this time, so new land for us to explore. We spent most of the day hiking and playing while Kevin and Nara did training, and then cooled off in the creek before heading home.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I'll be back Wednesday with some sewing adventures!

You know, there's nothing wrong with putting Mother's Day on the wall calendar and circling it in rainbow colors 5 or 10 times. Sometimes that's what it takes with the male of the species. ;)

Looks like a perfectly lovely outing with some unique flea market finds. How cool that your dog is doing SAR training! Is that something your husband does as well?

(I moved my blog over to blogspot)

Looks like a lovely day. I really love streams and creeks, I wish we had more over here. There is a creek a street over, but we have so many problems with alligators that we don't dare go in.

Looks like a wonderful day!

What beautiful treasures you found! I love to see how loved someone else's items are, esp the hand embroidered linens. Even the cook pot exudes the heart that another mother gave each time she made a special meal in that cookware to feed her family. Lovely post! And how fun you are participating in Search & Rescue classes. We attended a field trip about one and have since rescued a one eyed dog from the pound on the kill list. He's all signed up for training classes through the search & rescue org, though he's a chi, so he will just be doing obedience training - lol! Love your shepherd, though! They are the best for S & R! Great job!

Glad I'm not the only one who had a late Mother's day. Last week Dh and I got in a huge fight and just about killed each other and/or divorced, but he made it up to me this week with a good belated Mother's day :)

You make me want to move to Oregon. Stop it! ;)

I feel so at peace near a stream...just love the feeling I get as we approach it; the sound gets happier the air cooler.

Soul Sister, I would have bought the exact same items. That chicken-casserole dish matches the fabric I'm using for kitchen cupboards!

I don't think I could even begin to tell you all how much fun that day was. Thank you for letting me share it with you!

Boatbaby - Ha,ha.. maybe next year?! My husband does the training, too. He will actually be certified before our dog and he'll go out as support until she is certified as well. It's exciting!

Jen - Wow, you put exactly how I feel about used/vintage items into words beautifully!

Stephanie - I sooo need to see this fabric you are speaking of :)

Alyssa - The bonnet pattern is from kingpod.

Thank you everyone, again, for your kind words!!

What great finds! I especially love those mushroom shakers...I share the dream of that dream truck too. Riding down an old dusty road...alone, with my dog, wearing a cowgirl hat. Seems really silly, looking at me now. I guess it's my alter ego or something.

Nicole...I showed my chicken fabric on my blog; look in the archives for May; the post was called "The Sewey-Growy Homestead?" or something like that. I've actually decided to use it in my kids' new room (I'm HOPING to have them moved in while they're still kids...)So bright and cheery!
