Wip Wednesday: Moving Forward

I mailed out my dear friend's package last Friday but took a couple of quick pics before it went out. (Last time I am posting pics of this project, I swear!)

The baby's goodies

Fiona's (big sister) goodies

K fell in love with Fiona's presents and asked if I could take pictures of her wearing them for 'just a minute'. How could I deny that sweetness? When I said yes, she ran into her closet and came back out with a skirt and top over her pjs and announced she was ready.

Mermaid purse - complete with a mermaid doll

K also let me know that because of Fiona's love of mermaids, she now loves them, too. She wants Fiona to show her some real mermaids when we visit her sometime. I love her imagination so much!!

Mermaid bonnet

I honestly feel like I didn't do enough and I really wanted to do more but right now I need to move on to C's upcoming birthday so maybe I can do more after that...

February sweater for an April girl

Speaking of C's birthday, birthday present preparations are in full swing.
I am almost done with her sweater, I just need to put two more buttons on and it's done.

Twirly dress for my girly-girl

I thought I would sew a birthday dress for her this year. You may remember this fabric I bought last spring, well, it's just been sitting on my shelf waiting to be made into something. C's birthday seemed like a good time to use it. I am making it a size 3T so she can grow into it and I added a lot of length to the bottom. I dress my girls (and myself) pretty modestly so (to me) extra length is always a bonus.
I am thinking of making her a matching bonnet out of this fabric, too, as long as I have the time.

K's gnomey, gnomey, gnome

Finally, I finished up a 'quick fix project'. Last autumn, when I knit up K's gnomey gnome hat, I was disappointed in how short the neck part was. It was sized to fit up to age 8 but it barely touched the top of her shoulders. She loved it so I didn't want to rip it out so I thought I would add on to it. Last night I was finally able to do that. Since I was adding to the bottom of it I knew there would be an obvious seam so I thought I would add stripes, instead, to make it look a little bit more like I meant to do that. I think it came out ok enough. Next time I will just make the hat the next size up, though.

What Spring projects are you working on? I can't believe it's March already!
Happy creating!!

Those are very lovely, indeed! You really inspire me. Unfortunately, this darn day job gets in the way of my crafting aspirations sometimes. But, hey, conference calls are at least good for knitting. ;-)

Oh my, that must be one of the most wonderful baby packages ever! Really all so sweet and beautiful!
I make my girls dresses very long too, and big enough that they can wear them for many years.
Pretty sweater!
My first spring project was a little knitted lamb.

Who is the designer of the mermaid fabric? My 4 year old is fascinated by mermaids and I'd love to make her a dress out of the fabric! Thanks in advance.

I can not believe I have managed to forget that Spring is almost here and that I need little presents for the girls' felted eggs!! Thank you for the reminder, Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!!!!

Wild violets - I tend to get my fabric all over the place. The dress fabric was from Joanns, the mermaid fabric from etsy and the chery fabric from e-bay.
