Checking In... Anyone There?

K's artwork for her RE teacher

Hey everyone! I am just getting around to posting some photos from Easter. Sunday nights are some of the busiest nights for me with the weekend winding down, meal prepping and preparing for the upcoming school week. I don't remember why I chose Sunday nights to be my night to do blog posts. Maybe it was me sticking to my old rhythm of posting Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Then again I haven't followed that schedule in quite a long time now have I? I suppose old habits really do die hard. I seem to have it set in my mind that I can only post on the same day every week instead of sporadically. But life has become so very full that I rarely seem to post on that night anymore. Many of you have emailed telling me that you miss the way I used to post and I can tell by comments being few and far between that many have given up on me. I'm sorry if I let you down. So I though I would check in with all of you. Do you stop in to see if I post on Sunday nights? Do you think that I should just post sporadically during the week instead, when I might find more time and energy to do so? I would love to hear from you.

It doesn't matter to me, I just like to read your posts when you post them. If sporadic posting works for you, then why not? I have to say though, that for me that's usually the beginning of not posting at all. But that's life. Sometimes you're too busy to think about blogging.

You should only post whenever you feel like it.

I am amazed and grateful to Mamas like you who have the energy and space to write a bog at all . I don't think I could do it without sacrificing a lot of sleep! I say post whenever the mood, opportunity and situation all come together. I will continue to eagerly look forward to your lovely photos and gentle words. Peace!

I've been reading your blog for.. an embarrassing number of years, actually. But I rarely comment. So.. I guess I'm just leaving this here to let you know that people are still around and enjoying your content even when not vocal about it and regardless of your posting schedule.

I miss you too! But on the other hand I'm a blogger myself and had to cut down during the last two years my blogging time to a more manageable amount. I tried blogging on fix days, but that made me experience it like pressure. Then I took a 4 months timeout this early spring (winter) because of a difficult pregnancy and extreme morning sickness. This was quite a good desicion. I even considered stopping blogging at all but realized how much I like it though... Now I am back again and determined to write whenever I feel inspired to and can find the time for it. Writing has always been something I truely loved, so I see it as a creative act which is worth sacrificing something else like doing the dishes right in this moment or picking up toys and books in our living room...
I'd love to see you posting more often, but really; take your time, let go of any feelings of guilt or pressure! Blogging has to be fun and joy and life is to precious. Maybe you'd like to think about how you like it most yourself? I mean, which kind of writing really speaks to you? Are you happy when you write diarystyle or you prefer to go through a given topic? Would you love to try your hands on poetry or do you prefer to focus on every day beauty? I realized that I really need full freedom when it comes to blogging. Sometimes I just write what comes to my mind and these are the blogposts I enjoy most, but then again I want to show snippets of my current life or I show new knitting projects and feel so very happy to be able to give them a real space in the spotlight... I think the key lies in the question: when do you love your blog the most? As soon as you find your way back to make your blog truely your space and experience writing it as an act of joy and selfcare, I think you will sit more often there writing and creating while without the feeling of being somehow forced to do so.
Then again; maybe it's just not the time in your life to blog a lot. That's okay too! Enjoy what you make and do and stick to what feels best. Instagram might be a good solution too!
I love to see whatever you want to share with us!

Post sporadically, when you have time. I check almost daily to see if you have a new post.

i never noticed it was supposed to be on a particular day but i do check in to see if there's a new post several times a week. If i was smarter i'd subscribe and then i'd know, but i never think to do that until someone is very sporadic or changing in some very big way, like Soulemama recently. I'd love it if you continued with a regular posting, but you do have a young family and many commitments and so you must do what is possible for you and not pressure yourself to fit with something that is no longer right for you. There will always another opportunity whenever things change.

I'm happy to see your posts whenever they come. It is so good to see the love and joy your family share. Caring for them should come first.

I love your blog! I follow you on facebook, so I see your posts whenever they appear. But I have not been able to comment for a long time! I'm not sure why the comments do not appear for me--I use the Chrome browser--but I've been unable to speak up!

I think you should post when you can. I love your posts but anytime is great!

I always look forward to your new posts and miss that blogs in general seem to be going away. Thanks for keeping on!

I've been reading your blog since before L was born and I do have to admit that I miss your old blog posts! But I do also understand how life changes and how busy it is!
If you need ideas for the blog I would love to read a homeschooling update especially now that you have older kids. Do you use any online tools for K? I know for a while it sounded like you would even consider sending her to a public school (I think that was back in Idaho) did things get better after a while? My kids are still young and I'm sometimes wondering if homeschooling would work for us. But right now it's even difficult to do the little homework my six year old gets because my three year old just cannot accept me taking time with him and tries to interfere in any way possible no matter what activities I give him to do.

Generally I would just post whenever you can and feel like it!

I always love hearing about your family life. It's been wonderful following your adventures into homesteading life. Of course, I would love to continue to read about what's going on. But please, the best time to post is wherever is best for you and your family. :) ...and I heck-in and read the posts whenever is best for me and mine. :) Life is just that way!
