K turned ten over the weekend. Ten! How did we already reach double digits?! We celebrated our sweet girl with a lot of pumpkin and apple baking and cooking (as usual), an afternoon tea party with friends and some family swimming. It was very much a "K day".

I can still remember K's kindergarten teacher telling me that K chose to come first and be the big sister to all her siblings. She chose to take on the responsibilities that come with being the oldest and the one who all the younger siblings look up to. Looking at these pictures of her interacting with her little brother and sister on her birthday really brings that into perspective. She loves them so! What a special soul we have been blessed with.

Happy birthday K! Oh my goodness 10!? Funny how that sounds so much older than 9. Lovely sweater! Impressive as usual. Thats color complements her hair so nicely! Such a lucky girl. We just got back from an organic apple orchard today with ALOT of apples, oh my goodness. So we can start our apple baking & crafts now tying it into Michaelmas. Its the 5th year of our orchard tradition. What is that board book in the background of your birthday table photo? Intriguing image.

I know! The double digits seem so very old to me! The book on the nature table is Goodnight by Marjan van zeyl. I love the artwork in it.
Wow the sweater is just gorgeous! I love the design! And your pictures are beautiful - it looks like she had a wonderful day :)
happy birthday to your girl and happy birthing day to you. what a sweetheart she is. <3
Happy birthday to K! I love what her kindergarden teacher said. I truely believe this. Many first really show such special care and responsibility over themselves. Best wishes to you and your beautiful family.
Happy Birthday! Sounds like a lovely b-day weekend. Gorgeous sweater!!!
What a wonderful birthday! That's interesting about the difficulty of finding an unabridged copy of Black Beauty--I need to go double-check the copy that my kiddo has. I wonder if people started taking out the disturbing scenes to "sanitize" it for its child audience.

I have noticed that a lot of classics are now "dumbed down" for children :( I don't understand why they feel they need to do this.
Happy,happy birthday x
I can see a bit of you in her now as she grows up. It looks to have been a magical day. My birthday was over the weekend as well and (maybe because of it?) I am always a sucker from some fall yummies...apple treats and pumpkin pie. That pie sounds do delish!
Happy Birthday to sweet K! I adore the picture of her smiling with her candles and I love hearing about her connection with her siblings. By the way, that pumpkin pie looks so good, I want to eat some right now! :)

P.S. LOVE her sweater!!!
What a special day for a very special girl, Happy Birthday K!! xx
Happy Birthday, K!!! It's so true about the biggest sibling--it's such a role for them to fill.
