Keep Calm Craft On {crafting on}

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture or two and share it with the rest of us by leaving your link below.

KCCO - Downton Abbey mitts

I know I am just asking for trouble, but I am working on another little project for myself when I should really be working on Little L's birthday knits (I have exactly one month until his birthday as I type this). I am calling them my Downton Abbey mitts as I have been knitting them as I sip on tea and watch this season of Downton Abbey. The yarn is some lovely Luna Grey leftover from Little L's Jan Brett hat. I love the softness of this colorway. I can't wait until they are finished so I can wear them on our unseasonably warm January nature walks.

What are you working on?! Happy creating!

I love the stitch pattern you're using for your mitts
The texture on the mitts is exquisite. Perfect match for Downtown Abbeyi!
Oh those are positively gorgeous. I'm almost done a pair (just have to weave in the ends) but not nearly as fancy as yours. I love them.
OMG I love these and the name!!!!!
Those are beautiful!!
What a pretty pattern! Cute name for the mitts. I was trying to catch up on Downton Abbey tonight but the PBS website is down.

Ack! That can't happen. I hope you were able to catch up.
I for one am glad you are knitting for yourself! Lovely pattern and the color would go perfectly in my wardrobe :)
Downton Abbey, tea and knitting - that's the perfect trifecta right there!!

Those mitts are beautiful! I'm "saving" my Downton Abbey recordings of this season for an afternoon or evening of knitting and tea, but that time seems like it won't ever come!
It's so good to be back sharing my crocheting!!

Thanks for hosting the link party!
This stitch pattern look so delicate! I'm sure it will be a pleasure to wear them.
Goodness, you have exquisite taste in knitting & yarn! What a beautiful pattern created! When i see the elegant things you knit I so wish I had that ability & talent. I'm very intimidated though. How does one ever keep track of all those stitches?! It seems so unforgiving. You drop a stitch & theres no fixing it without major undoing which I've yet to figure out how to do. I used to be good at math. Why does this tax me so! Is there a post where you reveal to us how you got started and how you got so darn good? I know you practice ALOT, LOL. At this rate I may have to teach my boy next year for first grade & I barely know the basic 2 stitches right now. I've only made a square & it was all uneven, sigh.

Aww thank you Michele. I wonder about my taste in many things quite often so that is so nice to hear :) Surprisingly, once you have gone through the four row repeat of the pattern, it becomes almost rhythmic. That's the only way I can do it while watching Downton at the same time. I did mess up my stitch count somehow on the second mitt though. I just decided to go with it and keep the mistake. I am trying to be better about letting go with things like that. I do have a post on how I started - I was taught by a former Waldorf kindergarten teacher. I'll find the post for you in a minute. Some children's knitting books and an army of sheep got me going. But yes, I do practice a lot. he,he. Nothing seems to calm my nerves as well as knitting now. When I first started it was definitely the other way around though. Oh it stressed me out so!

I am a hands on learner for sure. Do you have anyone near you to teach you? Oh and knittinghelp.com has amazing tutorials. I go there quite often when I don't understand a stitch. BRB
