His very first!

His very first time sewing (is dark, horrible light!) His very first His very first His very first His very first His very first His very first His very first
My Little L somehow made it nearly four years without ever sewing!  The girls had already had quite a bit of sewing under their belts by this time, but somehow in the busyness of life, Little L missed out. As soon as we realized that I set him up with some precut wool in a hoop, a needle and some embroidery floss. I did the first two stitches while singing:

"The thread follows the needle,
The thread follows the needle,
In and out the needle goes,
While Mama mends the children's clothes"

He caught right on and sat happily sewing (in a dark corner of our home, unfortunately) for a good half hour. His little project will be cut out and become an ornament when it is finished. I have a feeling there will be more than one, especially with all the Christmas crafting being done around him.

Yes, wool felt! It's much easier for little hands to handle and less fidgety. :)
Oh how sweet!! Absolutely fantastic :)

Wow, he's doing a great job. It's great to see little ones learning these skills.
I just love this. DO you have a Waldorf Christmas craft book/source of craft book for any time of year that you would recommend? My little one is 3 1/2 and I would love to craft more with him : ). Thanks!

Very sweet! What a great idea for children to make Christmas decorations. I will do this with my son. We moved in to a new rental property which I love except for oddly there is no window in the small kitchen. It kind of goes against nature to cook at the stove top and not look out a window. Nevermind the house offers other positives.
Super cute idea! I am totally stealing this!
So cute! I love Little L's first sewing project.
