Keep Calm Craft On {crafting on}

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture or two and share it with the rest of us by leaving your link below.

KCCO - surfer shorts in progress L's pillowcase finished

Sorry for my absence yesterday. I was feeling a bit down and out with all that's going on in our world. I purposely stay away from the news as I tend to be very sensitive to doom and gloom and I really don't want to bring any if that into our home BUT the latest news on Monsanto suing Vermont, the honeybee death rate too high for their survival, and the current sate of our soon to be shark less oceans had me in quite a hopeless mood. Thankfully my children reminded me that the world is good, and I truly believe they will help be the change we need (I just hope it won't be too late!) So I am coming back around.

In Crafting On news, I found another project I started back in the early spring - surfer shorts! - and am finishing them up. I also thought I would share L's little pillow case I made him for his big transition.

What are you working on?! Happy creating!

Hi Nicole, are you using the quick change pants pattern for those shorts? If so, have you made any modifications to make them (still) fit your (growing) little guy (the pattern only goes to size 2 I believe…)? Great fabrics! Crafting on certainly cheers us up!

I was thinking of altering it but in the end I bought the pattern for the larger sizes: http://store.annamariahorner.com/newallsetpas.htm...
Oh! Thanks Nicole! I didn't know this pattern was available in larger sizes. I'm going to purchase a copy right now. I love this pattern and have been starting to wonder what to replace it with once my babe grows out of it. Warmly, Sarah xx
Very cute shorts!
sorry you were sad, I agree that most of the world is filled with good people but it seems like the select few want to ruin it for the good people. Love the print!!!

Yes, so true. I need to stop letting those few dictate how I feel!
It sure is disconcerting to consider the impact of big ag on bees and the food supply and our home; sorry it hit you so hard. :( Taking dominion means so much more than Monsanto could ever imagine! I'm thankful that we do have a future and a hope and pray our kids do indeed make a difference when they get the opportunity! Love your surfer shorts. :)

oh thank you for your words, Lisa! I so agree with you on taking dominion. My girls and I talk about that a lot.
I love those shorts! I also wondered whether they were the Quick Change pattern; I was so glad when AMH offered it in larger sizes! xo

Oh I can understand your sadness. We have been feeling the same over here in England. I've hardly seen any bees this year and had a day when I found a number dying in the garden and close by. We don't use any pesticides. We hope to get our own bees and are busily reading everything we can find on the subject. I'm glad that you are feeling much better today. I'm sure those making those cute little shorts must have lifted your spirits. So sweet.

Thank you, Debby. I hope you share your bee adventures! We want to get some, too, but have to wait until we move - they don't allow beekeeping here :(
