Keep Calm Craft On {crafting on}

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture or two and share it with the rest of us by leaving your link below.

I finished up the last of C's (very late) birthday gifts - her doll's matching birthday outfit. It's a little birthday tradition in our family for the girls' dolls to get new clothes. After all, it's their birthday, too. I made the doll skirt the same way I made C's and the top is a modified version of the girl's cap sleeved spring shirt pattern. The rav page for the top can be found here. I plan on adding more detailed notes as soon as C lets me borrow the top back for a moment.

Please forgive the state of the model. As you can see, C's loves her so very much. It's funny to see just how much C can love her doll in the few short months since her "spa treatment" last Christmas.
I admit it is a lot of work to fix her doll every year but I consider it a privilege to do so. It's such a special thing to have a child cherish a doll so much. I know this time is fleeting, so I am soaking it in while I can!

What are you working on?!

If you would like to link up and share your current works in progress (or finished works) please leave your link below. It can now be either to your specific blog post or Flickr photo. There are no rules, only that your link is current and something about a craft project (of any kind) you are working on. Don't forget that there is now a KCCO Flickr group for you to share your crafting photos at anytime.

Please remember to link back here so that others who may want to join KCCO can find us.

It's as simple as that. Remember your post can be from any day of the week, it doesn't have to be today. We all love feedback so if you have a moment please leave a comment on some of the KCCO posts you may visit. I know from my own experience just how much your comments really motivate me! Now please share and inspire us all!

My link is to a post I wrote about learning to spin wool, on a drop spindle, on a budget! Something I've always wanted to do and finally am DOING at the age of 39, with three kids and a baby underfoot. The time just felt right!
so sweet! I am smitten with that skirt!
How wonderful! I love her!
I am sure your daughter is over the moon about the new outfit.
Sweet use for Heather Ross' fairytale fabric!

My link is to a post about a simple dolly blanket I am knitting with some homespun yarn I made. I wish my son played with his Waldorf Doll as much as your girls do. They are so fun to make things for!
Both top and skirt are precious! Lucky doll :)
Thank you for hosting this linkyparty!

Oh, the doll is just so lovely and beautiful. Wish I could make one like that,
my girl is only 6 months old so I still have time to practice!

warm greetings from Holland,

Oh, this is just so adorable!
Beautiful! No need to say excuse me, she looks loved, as a doll should!
The new outfit is gorgeous- wouldn't mind an adult sized version for myself! For confession of a person with too many WIPs see my post today!
Lovely outfit. The red yarn is beautiful.
HI Nicole! Thanks so much for hosting this every week! I love visiting everyone. I have wanted to join in lately, but didn't have anything "good" to show. So today I'm including my biggest and latest "crafting" venture... a tiny new soul! ;-) Hugs! Rachel

P.S. I am sure you will do great as a homeschooling mama to your whole brood. Don't worry too much about it. God will be faithful to guide you! It'll be awesome!
i just love that color way of that yarn. :)
The little doll outfit is so darling! I hope you don't mind I linked up to my post on Kathreen Ricketson's Memrial Fund. I'm donating proceeds from 4 little ornaments in order to be able to contribute $50 to the fund. I've already sold, 2. Just 2 more to go. Thanks!

Becca
That outfit is so adorable! Thanks for taking the time to write out your modifications. I bought this pattern and could figure out myself I guess, but now that's a time saver! :D

My daugther's doll is very well loved as well! I had to re-do her hairs this winter. I let my daugther pick the new yarn, she felt really involved. In fact its her that pointed out she needed new hair. Feets and hands are dirty too, and now the doll aquared some "tattoo" from my daughter having a watercolor make up one day and somehow it transfered on the doll's shoulder.
Home made doll clothes are such a special gift. Beautiful
Hello,
This is the first time I've joined in KCCO. Thanks for hosting. I love your beautiful blog. What a lovely idea to dress the doll like your daughter. That's the kind of thing my mum would do when we were little. The fabric is lovely and the colours work so well together. The model is so cute...obviously well loved and used...just perfect.
