Keep Calm Craft On {crafting on}

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture and share it with the rest of us by leaving your link below.

I planned on starting the crayon pouches by this installment of KCCO but nights spent relaxing by the fire with Kevin slowed down my progress quite a bit. I think I can handle falling behind by such a distraction, though. I did at least wash my fabric - that counts for something...doesn't it?!

I also picked up a knitting project to work on while I prioritize my Christmas making list. I just can't ever have idle hands so I even need something to do while I am thinking about what to do. Sounds complicated, but then again I guess I can be quite complicated myself.

The yarn you see above was chosen by K. We had a little yarn store outing, just the two of us, a couple of weeks back. She spent nearly an hour deciding on which yarn she wanted me to knit her special sweater from. We enjoyed ourselves looking through and touching each skein we saw. I did have to redirect her a couple of times when she chose some bright neon colorways. (I am hoping for this sweater to be one she can wear most every day.) She finally chose a 'cherry' colorway. I think it will look great on her. I had hopes to finish this sweater by Christmas Eve but with my other projects taking priority - it probably won't happen. I won't count it out completely just yet, though.

What are you working on?

If you would like to link up and share your current works in progress (or finished works) please leave your link below. It can now be either to your specific blog post or Flickr photo. There are no rules, only that your link is current and something about a craft project (of any kind) you are working on. Don't forget that there is now a KCCO Flickr group for you to share your crafting photos at anytime.

Please remember to link back here so that others who may want to join KCCO can find us.

It's as simple as that. Remember your post can be from any day of the week, it doesn't have to be today. We all love feedback so if you have a moment please leave a comment on some of the KCCO posts you may visit. I know from my own experience just how much your comments really motivate me! Now please share and inspire us all!

Good choice in yarn, beautiful colour even while traveling my hands can't stand to be idle, forever making something!
I am the same way about having to have a project while thinking of another project, I started knitting a blanket about a month ago for my son, super easy all knit squares that I am going to whipstitch together with a contrasting color, that has become my thinking project. I usually whip up a square inbetween other projects. 3 more squares to go of 40 stitches and 80 rows, I do hope to have it done by the holidays though.
Washing fabric definitely counts. I am still procrastinating sewing a bag for my boy to keep his horseback riding gear in. I think I am trigger shy because I have had the fabric SO long and now it's hard to come by/ expensive so if I mess up I can' easily get more.

I am right there with you working onour crayon pouches!
That yarn is a beautiful colour, I am wearing a jumper that colour today!
The color of yarn is stunning! Love seeing what all are making!
Beautiful fabric. Yes, I need to keep my hands busy all the time too. Glad to be joining along.
Where did you get your fabric? I'm assuming it's the Trinity, right? I think this is the second time you've shown fabric like like. I believe it was OLO Guadalupe, maybe? I can't really remember. Anyway, it's beautiful and I'd love to find fabric like that. I'd be thrilled if you bought it online...

I did buy it online!! It was quite the find, let me tell you. I got it on clearance on fabric.com. I am not sure if they still have it or not but I bet youc an find it somewhere online. It's called Los Sanctos and it's by Terrie Mangat for Free Spririt. HTH!
Gorgeous yarn! I very much want to start that same sweater (such a beautiful pattern!) for Evelyn, but I've never knit a sweater before. Go big or go home...I'll hopefully start after our move. I love the fabric for the crayon pouches! I must keep my hands busy as well now that I have found crafting. It helps me in so many ways!

Now I don't feel so guilty about having 3-4 projects going at once. I'm always working on something while thinking about the next thing. Gotta have a project that's intricate for when I have time to focus and concentrate, one that's small enough to carry everywhere, and one that can be totally mindless for 90% of the time (i.e., when I don't have time or quiet to focus and concentrate).
What a lovely colour yarn - your little one has done well. I spent some time this evening organising materials for a few of the Christmas projects I hope to do this year.
I have linked up a simple puppet that my middle one and I made
Oh, I totally get the need to craft-multi-task! I was working on a knitting project while cutting up old sweaters for G's Longies yesterday. :) that fabric is great - can't wait to see what you make with it! Happy Christmas crafting, and thanks for hosting KCCO.
Nicole,
I don't like to have idle hands either. :) I like to always be working on something.

I love that cherry color of that yarn. It's going to make a gorgeous sunday sweater! :)

Love,
Taryn
I'm with you on the multiple projects going at all times!!! Right now I have a box of unfinished crochet designs...Linking to my current work - a crochet design I'm patterning for a nativity set. I've finished the family and shepherds and am now working on the kings! Love your blog - new here. Look forward to learning more!
I also have a difficult time without a handwork project going. I always knit while we are traveling. The yarn is lovely.
