Keep Calm Craft On {crafting on}

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture and share it with the rest of us by leaving your link below.

My cats always find my knitting and make it their little home. Am I the only one this happens to?

I had a deja vu moment as I was knitting K's rainbow. It reminded me all too well of my Lina mishap. I need to learn to pay more attention to my mistakes so I don't do re-live them. I tried K's gift on her after I finished the sleeve portion to see how it fit. It seemed perfect so I finished it up minus the picot trim at the end. I tried it on her again just to be sure and it was too snug. Not horribly too snug but snug enough that she wouldn't be able to wear layers underneath it, and layers are a must here. I ripped it back up to the sleeves and added two extra stitches under each arm as well as went up a needle size. Hopefully this does the trick. Must remember to have little ones try on their gifts multiple times, but it's tricky to do so. I try to keep the gifts a surprise, so to bewilder them a bit I always have both of them try on whatever it is I am making. This way they don't really know who it is for. So far this little trick works...

P.s - I hope to finally share K's project with all of you later in the week. Stay tuned! Also don't forget to enter for your chance to win a beautiful set of silk butterfly wings from Ziezo designs here.

I am finally starting to learn from my mistakes. I am hoping the revelation isn't short lived. You are right, though, it is hard to surprise them and make sure it fits. Last winter, I gifted my oldest a sweater that he couldn't fit over his head. Luckily I thought it may be snug, so I was able to rip back and make it fit. Yikes.

Let's hope it isn't short lived for the both of us!!

Yes we love noro but I too only pick it up on sale. I found this yarn for 70% off. Couldn't let that slip through my hands!
I have gone so far as to blindfold the recipient. They know what body part it goes on, but at least they don't know what it looks like.. :)

Ha!! I have done that, too. Oh how funny!
I love that you try and bewilder them. I just resort to making all sewn clothing items 'not surprises'.
Mine this week is the rest of the bloomers and a new doll dress: http://frontierdreams.blogspot.com/2012/07/keep-c...

I am a Swedish crafter/blogger/mom who just found your site, thanks for the ideas and inspiration! Am looking forward to following your blog and am happy to join in with you here. It will be fun to read what all of the other crafters have come up with as well.
I never leave my knitting where the cats can get to it. One of the nine indoor cats we have is fond of trying to eat strings. Another is fond of chewing on the cables of circular needles. I try not to tempt fate. (: The cats do like to make their "nests" on whatever we're working on, though - books, drawings, laptops. I think it's part of the I'm-the-center-of-the-world feline mentality. (:
I like the yarn very much, I added my yarn along that I posted early today for tomorrow's one, I'm knitting owl again, I didn't finished my last one.
I've been having so much fun joining the last two weeks, but today was a post from our market booth. :) Planning to join in again next week.
your kitty is so gorgeous!!!

I don't leave my knitting lying about, my cat likes to chew the needles, and because I prefer bamboo it's a bit of a problem.
