A day in the life

046

080

Taking a leisurely stroll through the house while pushing baby, (Don't let these pictures fool you - he isn't walking yet. Well, that's not entirely true. He took his first steps at the beginning of May but decided that was enough and hasn't tried since. He loves pushing the doll stroller around, though. Such a dear sight to see!)

059

feeling quite exhausted from all of that walking he decides to take a little rest in the middle of the living room,

063

071

but he spies something of interest out of the corner of his eye. He crawls over to it and plays for a few moments - just enough time to scatter everything (that was once in baskets) about the floor,

051

and then off again... his walk quickens and I can see he is on a mission.

084

Bye-bye stroller! On to books.

Oh the busy life of an on the go little one (and the blessed Mama lucky enough to observe it all)!

In other news I some how managed to goof up the lotion recipe I was making for the teachers, I think it was my math in converting ounces to kilograms (for our kitchen scale). I am not sure. But the fact of the matter is that it looked like lotion when I first mixed it together and now the distilled water and essential oils have separated from the beeswax, olive oil and coconut oil. Does anyone happen to have any experience making homemade lotions? Can this be fixed? Ack.

I'll be back in this space in another day (possibly with a giveaway *hint, hint*).

He's so adorable! I just love that age, they are so fun to watch!
I am not sure if your lotion can really be fixed. You could try to separate the water from the oil and wax and re-measure. Then re melt down the oil and add the water back in. The trick to getting a good lotion is precise measurement. It's best to get a digital scale because then you know it will be accurate. An easier recipe would be a lotion or massage bar recipe. There isn't any water so they usually turn out very nice. Also portable unless it's kept in your car or a really hot place where it could melt. I'll take a look around for my recipe and give it to you if you want it.

cutenss :-)
Beautiful images, and how he's grown to be a gorgeous boy... imitating life x
That's a lovely stroller, exactly what I've been looking for! May I ask where you got it? Thank you!

He is delicious that wee boy of yours. And I love the pants too. Ya know Zach didn't walk until 18 months... it was wonderful frankly :) Naia wears me out! It's funny at about the same age I did an almost identical post about Naia http://zachaboard.blogspot.com/2012/02/oh-what-bu...
Wouldn't it be sweet for them to play together? My chatty little extrovert would love having a mate her own age. She's stuck with all of big brother's friends because bad mommy doesn't seek out friends her own age like I did with Z. Ah well. Enjoy that beautiful boy!

I haven't made lotion, I make salves. So I don't know about measurements or remelting/mixing. But.. did you stir it as it cooled in it's jars/tins? I find that to help with some things - to keep them mixed (otherwise the wax cools first around the edges).

I made the lotion, and the same thing happened to me both times--I thought it was because I don't have a hand mixer. I do think the oil stayed with the beeswax, but not the water--I just kind of poured off the water and it worked out okay...

so sweet!!! i just wanted to let you know that i had emailed your school book store to order something that bought my eye from your link to their face book....i had mentioned that i found them from your blog....when she replied she had said how wonderful you are........ just thought you would like to know you are loved by many!! i was also wondering if you would mind telling me were the horse on wheels is from?? my little one is into pushing things around right now...i think he would enjoy this horse...i love the simplicity of it ..that there is just the beauty of the wood...and no color...and i would love to support the craftsman/woman who made it!!! thank you for your inspiration!!!

Nope, can't be fixed. You can pour off the water and use the rest yourself. Lotions are finicky. The temperature and measurements have to be exact. Always a bummer when it happens...

Love seeing his playtime! What a cutie. Love those little animals on wheels! Darling.
Aww such sweet pictures. I had trouble with lotions seperating at times too. The addition of a very small amount of borax helps the emulsification process. Maybe you could gently reheat the lotion and add a little? Perhaps it may work. The other tip that helps prevent seperation is making sure that ingredients are exactly the same temperature before combining. I used a food thermometer. I haven't had any problems since these changes :)

He is such a cutie! Love your wood floors :)
I admire your way of living. It's not exactly my lifestyle, but it's comparable in many ways. And I really love your children ♥

First off, I'd like to say I love your blog. You inspire me. Your kids are truly lucky to have a mama like you.
Also, may I ask where you got the doll from? Did you make it yourself? And lastly, what is the size/lenght of the doll?
Just finishing up our first year of Waldorf preK :)
