Keep Calm Craft On {crafting on}

The current state of my dining room. C's birthday makings have taken over!
There is sewing, sewing and more sewing going on along with some knitting and baking, too. I really hope to pull off a rainbow cake for her. I found a version (here) using homemade plant dyes that looks really good.

I had a friend ask me the other day if I work better under pressure, since it seems I have been doing that a lot lately - scrambling to get things together at the very last minute. That made me giggle, it would seem that way, wouldn't it?! Kevin is one of those people, he shines when everything is on him. I, on the other hand, fall apart and turn into a weeping mess of a child when under pressure. The truth is that I generally like to have things done well in advance. I am not sure what has been going on with me these past few months but hopefully I can get back on track soon.

C baby - 3 years, lots of love and many dog attacks later. She is in need of help, wouldn't you say?

I have only one more day until C's birthday (I think I need a miracle here), after that things should calm back down here and I can play catch up. Sorry for the fly-by post, again.

What are you working on? Happy creating!

Thanks for the sharing opportunity. I am glad to see that your diningroom table gets taken over once in a while as well! A sign that we live and parent!
What a well-loved doll! Thanks for hosting this, I love to see what everyone is working on each week!
No! I refuse to notice the laundry basket! And you should too! lol :-) Don't beat yourself up. Did you know that when Jesus said "the poor will always be with you" many scholars translate "the poor" to mean "laundry"? No? Well... maybe not. But I bet He agrees.

Whatever happens, your C will be thrilled because it's her big day. Remember Laura and Mary didn't get more than one gift or a little thing for their birthdays right? ;)
And I adore your banner photo, so sweet!!
I had to wash my daughter's doll once because Papa had stepped on it with it's work boots! No fun, but she was beautiful afterwards.

Love that dress pattern. I've made several of those for my girls and they have loved them. Enjoy the birthday!!
I so admire your sewing skills! I looked at the picture of that Rainbow Cake - simply beautiful! Now you have me plotting to make one...
My theory is that they notice that we stop with the daily stuff to get ready for their birthdays and that just adds to the excitement. I can't wait to see what you're working on, it looks adorable!! This week I'm sharing a shawl that I just finished for a friend of mine, and a little progress report on Nomi's little knit shirt. :)
Good luck to you! I know well that rushed projects abounding Bday feeling! Your mess is beautiful! I'm excited to share my first blog post at Natural Kids blog! I hope to write there a few times a month.

Thanks!

Becca
I've started working on a birthday crown for my daughter's 2nd birthday. I'm so excited for it. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas in your blog!
C's poor dolly! She might benefit from this post I came across just before visiting you today: http://nestledunderrainbows.blogspot.com/2011/12/.... I'm sure your birthday preparations are going to come together just fine!
I feel the same way these days...so many holidays and things coming up with so much to do. I don't think I work well under pressure either....I too turn into a emotional mess at times second guessing myself. But the light at the end of the tunnel is how happy and proud I feel when I am done and the look on people's face when you give them something special and handmade. Keep up the good work and sending you happy good luck vibes while you work to get all your stuff done! :)
I am a combination of both - sometimes I shine under pressure and just as many times I crumble under pressure. I hope you get what you wanted to do done, and without too much stress! :)
Thank you for the link with the birthday cake! This is the first time i've seen one with natural colors! Awesome!
And Good luck! You will do fine, as always.... :) Sending some love (and calmness and time) over your way!
Wow that is a well loved dolly! Would you mind sharing what you do to help restore her? My oldest daughters little baby could need some serious cleaning, too, but I have been too afraid to do anything.

I am the shine under pressure type :) and it is lovely to see someone else's dining table covered with work in different states of completion, I knew I wasn't alone <3
I know you and I'm sure C's birthday will be wonderful, whether everything is done or not. :) I can't wait to see her lovely handmade gifts! My post is just a little bit of crafting that Cindy and I did over the weekend.
