Sellwood Bridge is Falling Down

The past week, during Purple Grandma's visit out here from the east coast, we spent lots of time in the pool at her hotel...

lots and lots of time

and neither one of the girls wanted to leave.

When Baby L and I weren't swimming, I sat and watched his raspberries as I got a little bit of knitting done.

It calmed my nerves with my little ones being in the water. Kevin was with them the whole time (and myself part of the time), but I have been having some pretty vivid nightmares, and even flashes during the day, the past couple of months dealing with drowning. Mostly drowning from a bridge collapsing (you can't drive anywhere in Portland without having to cross a body of water) and I somehow have to get all three of my little ones to the surface. I feel sick to my stomach even thinking about those dreams. They have shook me to the bone, in fact, so much so I now keep a hammer in our van at all times, and we are saving up for at least K to have swimming lessons. I am following my gut on this one. *shudder* Ok, moving on now... back to the visit.

I fell in love with a drawing K made for Purple Grandma, so of course I needed to take a picture of it before it went home to Pennsylvania. K said it's two mice and a friendly dragon.

We drove out to Tillamook to attend the June Dairy Parade. Kevin was required to go for his job so the rest of us tagged along.

The stars of the parade! K wanted to walk in the parade with Daddy. Once it started, though, my normally outgoing little one became very shy (as is evident in this photograph) and didn't want anyone to look at her.

My future farm truck was in the parade,

along with my tractor eh, ok I can dream, right?!

C choose to stay on the sidelines, instead. Ahem - ignore her dress, please... details on that coming later this week!

There were flea market visits, eating out at Bob's Red Mill, savoring sweet baby goodness, and plenty of time to just be. I do believe it was a fun visit for all.

Now that it is over we are slowly falling into our summertime rhythm. I still mean to do a series of posts on our newly updated rhythm. Saying that 'out loud' here may be just the push I needed to get on that. I have so much more I want to say but I think this is quite enough for one post. I will have to remember my ramblings for another day.

Happy fourth of July everyone!

It looks like the parade was fun.:o) I'm still trying to talk my husband into a cart for our pony. It would be SO much fun! I love the old trucks and tractors too. Only I want a Massey Ferguson like my Grandpa's. I'm hoping that by next year we'll have one of the big wheat trucks to use as a stage when we have Farm Days out here.

Ponies and carts go hand in hand, doesn't your husband know that?! :p My Grandpa is my inspiration for my farm truck, too. Your farm days sound like a lot of fun!
Happy Fourth to you, Nicole!
Gosh that little boy of yours is so sweet! I am seeing your younger daughter's face in his- am I right?
I am a believe in listening to your dreams- it sounds as if you've been having some scary ones- it's good to be going with your instinct! Hugs

Thanks Melanie. You know, it's funny you should mention that. I haven been wondering about Baby L looking like C lately, too.I am going to have to look up some baby pics of her around this time and put them side by side.
Happy 4th! Looks like a fun time!

And your little L is getting so big.....

Hee,hee. Dress info up now :) Grandma lives in Orangeville right now. My husband spent most of his years in Philly. The farm/temple I lived at was in Port Royal. I am horrible with locations/direction so I really couldn't tell you where they are, though :( We really dowant to make it back that way, someday, and get to Kimberton <3
I look forward to hearing about your summer rhythm. :-)

Me, too!
Ha,ha. Thanks! I need that push to post it!!!
Oh dear! How scary those nightmares are!! I'm so sorry you have to suffer them. My guy has fallen, unattended into bodies of water twice now...quickly rescued, thankfully, but still we have not arranged swimming lessons for him. We really must. Glad you're planning it for K. My family has just the tractor you wish for (several, in fact). Maybe one day I can pass it on to you! Looking forward to straw/blue berrying with you all as soon as my car is back in working order! xoxo

Oh goodness!! Too bad they couldn't take lessons, together.
Um, can I come and ride your tractor? Hee,hee. I love tractors!
Keep me updated on yoru car, we'll go pick whatever is in season then, even if it's pumpkins!
I know exactly how you feel Nicole as I have had similar dreams in the past. They always woke me up in a sweat and sent chills down my spine, so much so that I had trouble falling back to sleep. When they reoccur, it is even more terrifying than the first. Definitely trust your instinct! And I can't wait to hear the details of the dress!

Thank you for sharing that Tanya.I am beginig to wonder if I am going a bit nutty with these thoughts/dreams.
Dress details up now :)
Yeesh - those dreams sound ominous. I agree, you should trust your instinct on that one!
And, your little ones are all so sweet. They look completely happy.

Great to have a Purple Grandma.......I used to be known as Purple Jo....never too much purple in the world. Nice to also see the girls swimming as we are in winter over here in Australia....bring on summer....great post. xoxo Jo

Thank you. Purple Jo - that sounds like such a sweet nickname. It's still not really hot here, in the 70s or so but the pool was heated, it felt like a hot tub.
I hear you on drowning fears! I'm signing up Edie for swimming lessons too next week. When she was four I was playing with her in the water when her hand slipped from mine, her head dunked in and she didn't breathe for a minute once I fished her out. Scariest moment of my life! All your photos are so beautiful by the way :)
