Halloween - WIPs done!
I finished K's dress just in time, although I did the hem really sloppy and fast so I need to re-do it ahem, but we'll just ignore that tid bit for now.I did, indeed, free hand the embroidery. I found two different embroidery patterns for sale that I loved and I just couldn't choose between the two so I combined them together to make my own. K says it's her holding her basket in our back yard. I never did get around to posting info and pics of the finished cape on here, but I have notes on it here. I modified the pattern quite a bit.
I unfortunately don't have any good photos of her in her dress and cape, my camera was acting funny and then my computer crashed yet again so I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Once everything is back to normal we will try and get some better shots of Little Red and her wolf. I should add that K 'styled' her hair for these pics.
The seam is straight, I swear! She just had the hood kind of tilted
We pretty much had a Halloween weekend instead of just celebrating it on Sunday. Kevin had Friday off so we went pumpkin picking then (pics soon). Saturday the girls dressed up and we went to our local Whole Foods for their 'healthy trick or treating'. Their idea of healthy ended up just being organic candy but the girls didn't mind. We just put it all in the Halloween fairy bowl that night. Another local health food store was holding a festival of it's own and we stopped by to see the cutest little witch - Sparky the goat. The girls decided we will need at least 2 goats when we have our farm someday.
My little monkey had fun carrying around her pumpkin bag I made her, and everyone loved it.
We also carved our pumpkin Saturday. K requested a bat so Kevin carved this cute little guy:
He is still lighting up our table nightly, and putting a huge smile on all of our faces.
I hope you all had a fun Halloween!

I LOVE the cape. love love love it!!!!
And your little monkey is so darling.
Great pics!
wow, that is fantastic!!
Positively stunning! Love each and every detail: the embroidery, the cape, the dress, and the beautifully styled hair!
so fabulous -- and your photographs -- stunning :) perfect setting for such a wonderful costume. I've been wanting to knit that cape for my 4 year old -- and you've really inspired me to just do it!! I've just been scared of the 'long' project and the 'number of skeins required' -- but I should really just do it. it's so beautiful. Perhaps the yarn will come to her as a christmas present this winter... um...
thank you for sharing :)
(oh and your monkey - crazy cute too!)
That cape is AMAZING!!!! I want one!
Also, I never thought of putting our jack-o-lantern on the table...that is a great idea! We always leave ours on the front porch.
I adore Little Red and her wolf! Just perfect. I LOVE the cape (I don't see anything crooked anywhere!!) It is gorgeous!!! And the embroidery!! WOW!
Cutest monkey there too, looking pretty happy.
And a witch goat!? Adorable.
The bat pumpkin is the icing on the cake.
Love it all. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
That cape is just amazing and darling. I <3 it so much! The embroidery is beautiful as well. What an amazing costume for her to enjoy. :) Finn wore a monkey costume just like that one 2 years ago. Love me some cute monkeys. I'm glad you all had a nice Halloween weekend!
The cape is gorgeous. The girls look so cute! I love seeing everyone's hand made costumes!

Beautiufl little red riding hood - that cape is incredible ;)
Looks like you guys had great fun ;)
So beautiful & I adore the dress.
Love the cape. K makes a darling little red.
I have admired the idea of a knit red riding cape since it was in Living Crafts. I'll have to see if that is the pattern you used. Love it! I predict one of these in our future.
I always enjoy your posts. They are so warm and inspiring. I have to say that your children always smile and pose so sweetly for you. Mine have gotten to the "let's hide" or runaway stage, which makes getting an honest picture challenging.
That is the most breathtaking costume! Forget costume...that is how little girls should dress every day! You did an amazing job on the whole thing.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful Halloween with us - your little ones are just beautiful.
Oh my LORD Nicole. That cape. Unbelievable.
What great pictures.
Beautiful cape for little Red! How fun for her to have this costume for future play. :)
Love the monkey too!
oh the cape is amazing... I know I would have ~loved~ to have had one as a little girl (though far too warm to have actually worn it!)
and the little munchkids dressed up visiting Sparkles the goat - too cute!
Love the little cape. She's so adorable.

Beautiful cape, and that first photo is amazing-storybook magic!
What a great costume! The cape is beautiful and so is the setting of the pictures. It's great to have you back. I hope all's going well with you and the pregnancy.

The cape is incredible.
Oh my my my! When I saw that cape (or a similar one) in Living Crafts, I admired it for a long while, and thought I'd never find the time to do it. You are an inspiration because it is absolutely beautiful. Well done! I love the photo of your little red girl with her "wolf". So perfect! Looks like your family had a wonderful weekend.
xo Jules
clever Mama x
What a perfect lil red riding hood and wolf! The witch goat made me laugh. And your lil monkey is just too cute! Don't you just love fall? I do :)
You are such a talented Mama!
I wish K and my Ella were neighbors!
They are so much a like.
And then perhaps you could teach me to make such beautiful things.
And your little Monkey could play with my Vivian!
Best, Nicole
Thank you all! It was such a fun weekend.
Can you believe those pics were taken in our back yard? I love, love, love our trees here.
That cape was the one from Living Crafts a couple of years ago and it was a looong project, indeed, but so worth it.
Thank you again!
