...lantern season that is! Our Martinmas preparations are beginning with one of our favorite fall activities - lantern making. More on that later, though.
Star lantern in progress *cough* Yes, I need to fix the folds...
I am trying to finish up some more projects I worked on months ago but then never came back to. Like this teeny tiny vest below. All it needs is the buttons sewn on, a simple 10 minute project at most, yet I keep pushing it off.
I am also trying to finish up C's Harvest Festival/Martinmas cardigan (Thanks, again, to a sweet random act of kindness for the gift of the yarn). Our Harvest festival was a week or so ago so I am a wee bit behind. Now, I am hoping to finish it by the end of the month. K's matching cardigan was finished in time for the festival, though, so I was half way there. At least that's what I keep telling myself to ease the guilt.
Lots more in progress here but I am so far behind I need to get back to it!
Happy creating!!

Um, we got our lanterns done really early this year, due to the fact that my mommy-brain short-circuited and we rushed to get them done for Michaelmas!!! Well, at least the kids will get another use out of them...
I love the cardigan colors! So cheery!
The watercoloring is so simple yet so beautiful. Love the the little vest.
I know about having so many projects in the works.
Warm wishes, Tonya
I LOVE the watercolour. What type of paper are you using for the lantern?
I really need to get a move on with M's knitting for the winter. I have a sweater and almost cardigan done, but the problem is that since M has gone to school she is wearing a uniform and the colours are not right. I have to do white or blue. I have NO blue yarn.
Love your knitting.
I love that star lantern painting and look forward to seeing how you finish it!
We made our lanterns at Michaelmas too - I'm new at this holiday... Recycled glass jars and tissue paper with a water/white glue mix worked out great for my 2 1/2 year old.
Oh, I love pure and simple patterns! And the combo of orange and pink is great!
Oh goodness! Beautiful makings going on at your house!
Love, love, love the orange and pink. Can't wait to see the star lantern finished. I've been keeping the tutorial in the back of my head for awhile now but just haven't committed to actually doing it!
I am currently making the same cardigan for my 3 year old son! In green, his favorite color. :)
Beautiful!
And, I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one with a project or two lying around unfinished for want of buttons :-)
Hope you're doing well!
oooh I love that little vest, I have been searching for just that pattern! Will you share where you got it?
xB
Oh I bet your lantern will turn out perfectly! They are so much fun to make, because each one turns out so differently. Stilling wishing I could knit. ;-) *wink*
I am hoping to make those lanterns soon too. I tried a couple years ago and it did not work out well so hopefully I will have better luck this time.
I am suddenly feeling very behind on festival and holiday creating. Oh my, I think I should go make a little list...
Nice to see some of your beautiful projects.
And please stop feeling guilty right this moment!
XOXO
Thank you for your kind words everyone.
Tulsileaf - I bough the paper at our school store, it's wet on wet watercolor paper but I am not sure of the brand or anything. It's HUGE so perfect for the lanterns :)
Victoria - That's the perfect lantern for little ones! We made one like that last year and the girls had so much fun.
Jessica - Thanks! It's hard to follow the tutorial online (since it's in german) so I can understand! I am a real visual/hands on learner so I needed to see it made in front of me to figure it out.
Melanie - So sweet! I love their patterns.
Bianca - It's the pebble vest and it's a free pattern found here: http://thriftyknitter.com/?p=223
It runs REALLY small though so I used worsted weight yarn and went up a couple needle sizes. HTH!
Simple Mama - Thank you <3 Your lantern is still our fav, though. You coming to the heart of advent? *wink, wink*
Renee - Goodness do I hear you! Those lanterns are such a pain to fold at first! It took me three lanterns before I fully got it. Ughhh!!
Thanks again everyone!
XO
Hooray for lantern making! My K would absolutely love that rainbow one! I think next year I may attempt to do the star pentagon one...have you tried that yet? This year I will probably help out at the kindy for their glass jar decoupaging and work on my pumpkin carving...it's going to be very special and from a Grimm fairy tale....keep a look out :)
I just wanted to thankyou for all the inspiration you share on your blog... I so enjoy reading it!
I'm giving you the Versatile Blogger award! Please stop by for more details!
