Summertime Rolls

Wow. I can't believe it's been about a month since my last post. The virus really took it's sweet time working it's way out this time. Oh well, moving forward now.
I feel like I have so much to share, and I really want to hear your thoughts on quite a few things I have been thinking about, but I don't want to turn this post into a novel so they will wait...just for now.

Would you believe me if I told you I barely knit, didn't sew at all nor do any other handwork? Completely unlike me. I can never sit still and always have to be doing something with my hands, but there was a good reason, trust me! I'll go into that a bit more later in the week. For now I thought I would share a few very late summer decorating and nature table pics. We love the changing seasons and it is always so much fun for the girls and I to take down last season's things and replace them with the new season. They really look forward to it and it helps them to follow the rhythm of the year.

The girls helped a lot with decorating the nature table. I love their fairy in the boat. I took this pic more towards the beginning of summer, so the nature table has changed a bit now with a lot more nature finds.

Welcome back Father Sun!

Our summertime meal candle (We use this for every meal we eat)

Summer books

Father Sun wet on wet watercolor painting to symbolize summer (We use symbols for everything in our home instead of words, until the girls will learn to read, much later on)

Blue sky and clouds canopy on the playstands with birds flying below

Summer picture on the girls play kitchen

Summer picture above play kitchen

A couple of summer pictures in the hallway

Our summer light

The picture below isn't exactly summer but I had to share it. I could have sworn I had posted it in the springtime but I somehow managed not to. My beautiful and talented friend Rae made these gorgeous wooden eggs for the girls and surprised us with them. We absolutely adore them. K keeps hers on her nightstand by her angel candle holder and C has hers in our room in the window by her side of the bed. Sweet treasures, for sure.
Thank you again so much Rae!!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer! Wishing you all love and light!!

**gasp!!** so glad to see that you are back--- you made my day already, and it's only 7 am!! :) You inspired me to start my own blog:)
I would NOT believe that you haven't been doing any handwork, based on your beautiful past photos--there must be a very important reason! The photos are vibrant and fantastic:) I love the prints- I am having a lot of trouble finding ellasser and Beskow prints....grrr...
welcome back, and happy summer indeed!

Oh, so much prettiness, I love it all! The girls and I changed our nature table for August, not quite as colorful as before, we sure can feel the season changing.

I am so glad you are back and was so happy to hear from you last night! Sorry for my brief reply of incomplete sentences, I will be writing more soon!

XOXOXO

So sweet to hear you voice again Nicole! I missed you. I hope you've been having some grand adventures while unplugged. Being huge and hot and pregnant I am feeling adventure deficient, so I need to live vicariously for now.
Your eggs are lovely! We made some this spring and it's harder than it looks :)

Hmmm, I think I might have a feeling about what has been keeping you from handwork but I can't wait to find out for sure!

Enjoy your summer!

Thanks for sharing! Everything looks wonderful. I'm wondering where you find such sweet images? So far, I've made a summer tablecloth (hemming fabric) and another patchwork on for fall... I'm staring slowly to make and gather seasonal things.

Welcome back Nicole. We just arrived home from our three week holiday and I just started catching up with blog reading. What a treat to see that you're back. I absolutely love your Summer nature table. For some reason Summer is the hardest season for me (re. nature table). Thanks for the inspiration!

Yay! I have been missing your posts and these latest pictures are very inspirational. I showed my husband the one of your playstands and told him that we've put it off long enough, that he needs to make them this weekend. :)

Thank you so, so much everyone for your sweet words!! I honestly thought no one would care that I was gone. You brought tears to my eyes, thank you!

Bending Birches - WOW! I am completely honored and humbled. Your blog is very refreshing.

Kat - I am actually unsure of how to subscribe via e-mail... ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DO THIS? I'll try to get the info for you :)

Katie and Lydia - Most of the postcards and prints I have are from my friend Tiffeni but our Waldorf school also carries them. I just did a google search for 'Waldorf prints' and came up with a couple:

http://www.threesisterstoys.com/c-5-room-decor-furniture.aspx

HTH!

Joy - Our light is from Kinderkram and it's a base that you can switch out the silhouettes. We have one for spring, summer, winter and Christmas. I haven't been able to find a fall on though..

More info to come on my break from creating ;)

Here's how you add it :)

Hi Nicole, glad to see you blogging again. I haven't been blogging much this summer, there is just so much to do and I try not to spend it in front of a screen.

February reminds me of the long wait for my little guy. He was due in early February, but didn't make his appearance until March 03. Everyday I would get up and say, maybe this is the day we will have our baby and every night I went to bed and said, maybe tonight we will have our baby. Now, when I think of February I think of long days spent waiting for my March baby.

So good to see a celebrated - much attention paid to it nature table! It is beautiful.

Ours is there and looks pretty but unloved for the past few weeks - too busy setting up the new house....

How lucky to build a log home - the closest we will get to that is with our new thrifted Lincoln Logs.

Funny how the girls want to Mary as opposed to Laura - why is that??? My Ella is Mary too.

Namaste!

I haven't been knitting nor sewing either. I guess it has to do with the season ;o)

Hello Nicole, I just came across your blog and it's very beautiful. I love the way you decorated your children's room for the summer season - I would love to have seasons, I've always lived in tropical places our seasons are so subtle.
I can't believe you knitted that beautiful dress for your little girl, I would love to know how to knit like that.
Congratulations on your pregnancy, I do hope you are feeling better, the morning sickness will pass soon. Enjoy this special time, I hope to have another soon:)

Oh so pretty. I want to curl up with your Summer mood. Can you give specifics where you purchased the lovely Kinderkram light? Is is lit with a candle? Thanks for sharing!

Hello from Australia. I am totally captivated by your beautiful blog- sooo inspiring! I was wondering where you got the lovely wooden picture frames that you have your postcards in- the arched ones on the wall and the rectangular ones. I have never seen anything like them here. Keep up the gorgeous photo gallery. Would love you to respond when you have the chance...Mirakye xx

FrontierDreams said...

BlueSky Jenn - Thank you!! I got the light quite awhile ago through a co-op but I think if you do a google search for 'Kinderkram silhouette light' you should be able to find them. They have 2 different bases, candle or electric.

Mirakye - Thank you so much for your kind words :) The frames are from Nova Natural but unfortunately the man who created them has retired and they no longer sell them :( The children in the higher grades make frames similar to these in a lot of Waldorf schools, so if you have one close by you could check their school store. I actually plan on taking the adult night wood working class in our school to make some more for our home.

Oh, lovely!

I know this is an old post, but I couldn't help to comment.

I have that Sommer book, I love it! My one year old studies each image carefully before turning each page excitedly for the next.

I love that wee little snail you made on your summertime candle leaf!
