The Rain Came...

The other night we had our first real storm in Oregon. It was lots of fun to watch out of our big living room windows while we sang rain songs. Although, it wasn't so fun later on when we discovered the rain flooded our downstairs/basement area (We have a split level house). Luckily it didn't hit the side with my studio but it did flood our media area (We keep our tv and computer out of site from the girls and this downstairs area is perfect because we never go down there except when the girls are sleeping at night). Since it only hit the media area of the downstairs I say it was Steiner's wrath (joking!) but Kevin doesn't quite agree. Anyways, I have lots of mopping and airing out of carpeting I need to get to, so I thought I would share some pictures from my MIL's visit last week.

C and 'Purple Grandma' in deep conversation (the girls gave her that loving nick name)

Sleepy birthday girl

K teaching Purple Grandma how to finger knit

Colorful bird

C chatting with a squirrel friend

Squinty eyes

Oh how I love how breastfeeding friendly Oregon is!!

Silly K and my punk girl C (rockin' a mohawk with her sideways hat)

C thought it would be more fun to sit here

Choo- choooooooo

Game night

Thanks for bearing with me. I hope you all have a dry weekend!

Happy May Day (on Saturday), dance a couple times around the May pole for us, we are missing it this year.
Have a great one!!

Looks like a fun week. Very cool that Oregon is so bf friendly! Tennessee certainly isn't.

Looks like such a sweet visit. And that breastfeeding sign - yay Oregon!
What kind of bir is that? Amazing color, even just peeping from inside the birdhouse!

I have NEVER seen a breastfeeding sign in my life. I'm slightly envious since in TN and GA I get really strange looks when I try to breastfeed.

You made me laugh with the comment about Steiner's wrath. I hope you get it all cleaned up and fixed soon! I love the pictures of the girls with your MIL. It looks like they had a wonderful time. :)

Oh no! So sorry for you! This means a lot of work and trash, doesn't it... and I remember, soulemama made the same experience once upon a time- I hope, you'll have your basement dry again soon, dear Nicole!
I wanted to thank you for your snail tutorial; it's absolutely great! THANK YOU!
And I also wanted to tell you quickly, that I finished my first patchwork cussion, to which your own beautiful log cabin cussion (you made it out of left over pieces from your quick patchwork plaid, the fabric was from Anna Maria Horner) was a great inspiriance, because I loved your cussion SO MUCH. I actually planned to sew it more centered, but it came out quite differently by some sewing accidents and looks now really similar to yours... I thank you for beeing such a great source and inspiration and such a sweet soul!
I wish you much strengh and many sunny days to dry your things!

What a sweet post. I hadn't checked your blog for a while, maybe because I was feeling guilty about your snail blog where you so kindly invited a snail into your house, and I had just chuck several of them over my fence when I discovered them in my herb garden!!

Love the breastfeeding sign although in some ways it still could annoys me (cuz I'm cantankerous) that there needs to be a sign. I never had anyone say anything derogatory to me when I was breastfeeding, but I was pretty good at being discreet..well, except for when my early-talking babies would loudly insist, "nak, nka, nak" in church or other quiet place, since I would ask if they wanted a "snack," when they wanted to nurse.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your flooded basement. It happens to my aunt on occasion too - she lives in Milwaukie. Have you been able to clean it up yet and dry out?

Thank you everyone, we are still cleaning up he flood mess and ick is it stinky even though we have the windows open 24/7. Hopefully it will all dry up soon!

Boatbaby - I am not sure what kind of bird it is, but isn't it beautiful? Made me think of that bird book ;)

Nicole - Ha,ha. Yes that is money next to Purple Grandma, I didn't even notice! That was some change she has left over from earlier in the day that she gave to the girls to put in their piggy bank.

Jademondin - We got the frame from Nova Natural.

We just got back from a business trip on the coast so off to unpack! Thanks again, everyone!
