WIP Wednesday: A Photographic Journey

Temporary yarn shelf

...because honestly I am just too exhausted today! I think *gasp* I am getting a bit burnt out on holiday crafts already. I contribute it to the fact that we are still living out of boxes, furniture is just thrown haphazardly into each room, my temporary yarn shelf came crashing down yesterday, and C is teething and clingy. I have lost all motivation to do anything, let alone find the time to craft. I am hoping to get back into the swing of things soon. Maybe this will re-inspire me...

K's present {part one} from St. Nicholas

C's Lyala Hoodie

K's Stellaluna

I just have to add a note about K's bat. Remember how I said I goof things up when I rush? Well, that bat is the perfect example. I finished her up Halloween night and something didn't look right. It wasn't until today that I figured it out. I sewed her wings on backwards. Of course I can't fix it now because K would notice, and that would crush her dreams of the Halloween fairy. I guess they don't look that bad but I know it will irk me for quite a while.
I may hang a sign above my desk - NO RUSHING!

Ok everyone I hope you are having a great week! Send some of your creative mojo my way, please and help me get out of my slump!!

Happy creating!

Sometimes we have to remember that our children benefit most from a happy & nurtured parent! Cut yourself some slack...take a day or two off from crafting until your fingers itch to knit again! (these are all lessons I am learning myself! :-) ) Be present with your clingy baby--she needs you! (Easier said than done...my son is very clingy lately--I am trying to breathe! ha!)

Can you tell me anything about Lyala's bonnet....like where to get the pattern? I love it and would like to make some for my nieces and nephew. love, Beth

Hang in there, you will be settled in someday. P.S. I love your banner.

I think the wings look just fine (to a non-bat anyway!). That bat is amazing by the way.

love the hoodie. i have the pattern and just can't decide what yarn to use. all of the photos i see of variegated yarn look kinda funny, imo...but all plain seems kinda boring. you seemed to have found the perfect mix. nice!

too funny about the bat wings. made with love. it will be something you guys will giggle about in years to come.

peace and knit on...girly, it's along road ahead towards the holidays. but boy it's gonna be fun!

There are times where I, also, have no motivation and wonder if I will ever pick up a pair of knitting needles again. Then I remember how tired I am. Rest and fresh air seem to restore my spirit.
I hope yours will be also.
Warm wishes.

The kitty toys are so cute and I <3 C's hoodie! You'll get your mojo back, just enjoy a little break. I had trouble getting inspired a couple of weeks ago, then started a new project now I'm back to full force holiday prep. Good luck, Nicole! The bat looks adorable, btw. The wings look fine to me. ;)

I love Stellaluna, adorable!
I made that hoodie for my youngest daughter (who will be 2 in January) and she won't wear it. Every time I put it on her she screams and pulls it off, it looks so cut and warm too :(

I almost did the same thing when I made that bat last fall. I realized it before I finished putting it together so I just redid it. I think the wings look fine either way though.

Oh wow! I don't know if I have much inspiration for you, but you have certainly inspired me! The amount you accomplish with small children *while moving* is amazing! So, what my mom always tells me is...

Just take a few days off...put your baby in the sling, pick one room and make it cozy. Turn on some fun music so the kids think it's a game. :) When you're done, get out of the house, even if it means some things have to wait for tomorrow. Soak up the fresh air, vit D and just play hooky. ;) I find the best way to get back into crafting is to make a firm no-crafting rule for a few days, then set an "at least 15 minutes" rule for a few more days... Have a great day!

I never would have known about the bat had you not said something. I think it looks adorable!

Dont bats hang upside down anyways? ;) It is soo cute, as is all of your work! I think the post halloween slump and the unrest in the babes can be attributed to the time change (at least that is what I am blaming it on at my house. :) you are amazing and inspiring to me...

Maybe you just need to take a little time off. I know I find it hard to work in a cluttered or untidy space. Your next creative project could be creating a special peaceful area where you can do your handwork.

Love the hoodie! And the bat looks great, even with backward wings. :)

the bat is amazing! I think you're the only one who could possibly have any idea about the wings...

I love C's little hood, too.

Oh, gosh Nicole! I am not noticing backward wings at all! The bat is absolutely incredible, incredible!! I love your little ones hood, so many sweet colors and textures! Be well mama!

The bat doesn't seem backwards to me! It looks great! You can't be 100% on all the time. It's OK not to feel ready to tackle everything. You have a lot going on. I bet you'll feel better if you can get some good rest. Hugs to you!
