Sunday fun

We woke up early on Sunday so that K would take an early nap and be ready to go to Kinderhaus for the photos. After getting some breakfast and some things done around the house, we went on a bike ride to the park down the road. K, as usual, took an array of babies (dollies) with her and even a book this time. She fell asleep towards the end of the bike ride, so after collecting a cattail for her nature table, we took her home to finish her nap. Then when she woke up, we drove to Kinderhaus. She had sooo much fun there, and they got the sweetest pics of her and Fiona together. K will tell you who her best friend is now: "Nona!" (her way of saying Fiona) The pics will be up on the website soon. Right now they only have this one up:

Saturday

K started out the day with playing peek-a-boo behind the clothes in her closet.

She had lots of fun doing this. That was pretty much how the day started out. She and I slept in til 8am so we had a bit of a late start. But she still managed to fall asleep around noon while on a bike ride with her da-da.

After her nap, she went outside to help me water the garden (hasn't rained here in at least a month) then decided the sprinkler was really there for her and not the garden. Ha, ha. She ran all around the garden laughing and giggling. She then had to stop for a snack and ate some basil.

K hanging clothes with me

Whenever I go outside to hang clothes on the line K likes to come out with me and wear her clothespin apron like I have (K has a nice one from 1930) and hang up her dollie's clothes. It can be a bit of work to haul out everything for her too, but it's worth it. She loves doing it!

Latest growth from our organic garden

SQUASH

PUMPKIN             CANTALOUPE

Here's some updates from our garden.
We have tomatoes like crazy (see canning post below) and cucumbers too (I'll be making pickles this week). We had to pull up a few plants due to vine borers (lost our yellow squash plant and 1/2 of our zucchini plant. The pumpkin plants were attacked, too but seem to be making a comeback. The aluminum foil you see in the pumpkin picture is to help prevent the vine borers from returning. Next year I will plant radishes around them. That is another organic "cure".
Check out our funny carrot!! I don't know what happened there! We have no luck with carrots for some reason.
Our kale, broccoli, sunflowers, basil, lettuce and everything else is growing strong. I just planted another round of spinach because we are eating tons of that lately.

Bike Fun!

We got bikes and a trailer for K last weekend! Woo hoo!! Now Kevin bikes to and from work saving us tons of money and gas (not to mention helping the environment). K loves it. As you can see she needs to bring her babies with her to sit in the 2nd seat. She talks to them throughout the bike ride. It's very sweet to hear. She loves her 'banana' colored helmet too. It's got little chicks all over it. Click on the pics to see the full-sized version.

My first time canning is completed!!!!

Well, it was A LOT more work than I thought it would be but hopefully worth it! I ended up only having 1 1/2 jars worth of tomatoes so I had to make some homemade pizza last night to use up that 1/2 jar since you can't can that. I made a HUGE mess in the kitchen doign all of this but I think after a few more sessions I should be good. Now if only my 12 tomato plants would ripen at the same time!! I already posted the before pic of the tomatoes in my first post on here. Here are the other 2 pics.

Another gig for K

K appeared on the front page of the Under the Nile organic clothing company a few months back. This image is still running. She will be appearing in their fall line this year as well. I will post pics when that comes out. She landed this through my wonderful friend Cat (Love ya Cat!)

Above is a pic of K on the Kinderhaus website. (http://www.visitkinderhaustoys.com/ GO THERE!) It is a wonderful store--probably my favorite store--that sells Waldorf inspired toys. It is run by a wonderful friend of mine named Tiffeni (who I met through D'Anne). This Sunday we are going back there and K will be modeling some costumes they sell for their website. We are looking forward to this. The photo shoot will be at the store so she will be able to play with all the toys there :)

Got to start somewhere,right?

Well, I have finally started a blog...you happy now?! I have no clue what I'll be posting about but I promise I will try my hardest to not forget about this page! Tonight I will try canning for the 1st time. I'll be canning these roma paste tomatoes from my organic garden. We'll see how they come out. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have nice canning pics! Wish me luck!
