Crafting On

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture or two, post it on your blog, on Instagram #craftingon and/or Flickr and then share it with the rest of us by leaving your link below.
KCCO

Still working on C's Camilla sweater while planning something huge and exciting for the children (exciting for us adults, too but also a bit stressful and overwhelming).

What are you working on? Happy creating!

Reading instead of destroying

toddler books toddler books toddler books toddler books toddler books toddler books toddler books

Baby F is getting more and more into reading books instead of destroying them *ahem* and that inspired me. It has been quite awhile since I have shared our favorite board books/toddler books so I thought a new book post was due. Most of the books I am sharing have been gifted to us or purchased since our move, so you will notice they are different than our usual board book favorites (and I am just noticing many of them were recommended by Baby F's Godmother - how funny!). I think you know what I am going to say next - all our books are in storage. 😞

I have to start with Baby F's absolute favorite book right now: Oliver Finds His Way. This was one we picked up at the library on a whim and ended up having to buy our own copy because he loved it so much. It has become his bedtime story each night. He loves to "read" Oliver the bear's roars himself, adding fun and giggles to our bedtime routine. I wish you could hear his cute little bear sounds and see the scrunchy nose he makes when he does them.

Other current favorites are (click on the book images for the links):

These two books did not have images on Amazon but I still wanted to share them with you:

Baby's Seasons (pictured in the 6th picture down)
 The Easter Story
The wooden books pictured were purchased from Nova Natural when K was a baby.

I have been sneaking in a row or two here and there while loving on my Baby boy (but only a few so I don't miss out on the moment with him). Since I finished C's birthday sweater early it only seemed crazy logical to cast on another one for her. I have been wanting to knit this sweater since C was tiny but never got around to it. Now she is in the largest size of the pattern so I thought I had better run with it while there is still time.

What are you working on? Happy creating!

...and I don't even know it!

best days best days best days best days best days
Baby F has been miserably down and out these past few days. He is very clingy and only mama will do - no one else. In the past when my young ones had been this way I would love on them but not be as present as I should have been, thinking too much of things I felt I should be doing - things that really can wait like dishes, laundry, and blog posts to name a few. In reality though, these are some of the best days of my life and I don't even know it! Time is such a cruel thief. In just a few short years my baby will be too big to wear in a carrier or sleep on my chest all day. I'll be reminiscing about days such as these and wanting them back. So I am going to take the time to savor these moments. I'm going to spend all day in bed cuddling with my sick baby instead of fretting over everything I should be doing. I am going to listen to his little heartbeat and tiny breaths instead of concerning myself with my growling stomach. I am making memories with my baby, and as I have learned the hard way, babies don't keep!
