A Very Happy Birthday!

I first wanted to thank everyone for your kind words and thoughtfulness. Thank you so much! You all inspire me to work harder and create more. I do not deserve your kindness and am humbled and speechless! Thank you!! I will get working on the tutorial ASAP (before I forget how I made it because it's all in my head)!

I am just now returning to computer life after my baby's birthday and a wonderful visit from my Mother in Law. I just wanted to do a quick post, I'll be back with more once things are a bit more settled. Here's a few pics from her birthday, I didn't get much and they aren't great but they will have to do.

She did end up wearing her cardigan I made her :) It got too warm though and I had to take it off her but at least it's on her in the professional pics. She has plenty of growing room in it, so I am happy.

Her birthday ring all set up for when she woke up:

The only pic I really got of her in her crown. She kept taking it off on me :p

Handmade goodness:

Big sister didn't let her open much but she loved ripping the paper when she could! (gotta love the paper mess everywhere):

Snack area pics (and cake topper that was mine as a little girl):

Her birthday 'cake' a gigantic banana. She seemed quite happy!

I will be back with pics of her C baby (and other things). She is so sweet. C loves her and so does K. K tries to steal her all the time from C. Rohini and Gopita's Dolls on Etsy really outdid herself!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
XO

You are all Inspiring! AKA the Crown is Done!

I finished it up a couple days ago, thanks to every one's help and suggestions! Couldn't have done it with out you! I feel so lucky and completely humbled that you would all take the time to visit my tiny space here and helpe me out. THANK YOU! I did a combination of pretty much all the suggestions on here and from some others I asked.

What do you think? Did I pull it off ok? Look more nest-like now?
I decided to represent Spring using the root children (of course!), a sheep and the nest. The clover is part Sprign and part for C's Irish name.
I wish I didn't put it off to the last minute and spent more time on it. I also wish I remembered more embroidery! Tee,hee. It's coming back to me from my high school days. I just hope that as she grows older she will know how much love went into it and it will be special to her.

Here's the whole crown:

Side 1

Side 2 ( will try to get a better pic later)

I will try and get the tutorial up soon,if anyone is still interested after seeing how this came out!

K helped me do the table cloth. She decided it needed some trim. I am finishing up C's dollie sleepy sack tonight. I *think* that's it.. although I still have no clue what C is wearing for her party!

Ok back to the crazy preparations. I'll be back to blog land after her big day! I can't believe my baby is turning 1!

Opinions please!

eeek!Ok I'm stuck with C's crown. This is supposed to be a bird's nest with it's eggs inside but the nest just looks like a circle to me. I have 2 different shades or brown floss to use..what do you think I should do to make it more nest-like? This is a very tiny nest so it's hard to do much detail to it. Blah, why do I wait til the last minute to do these things? Tee hee.

Ok but I do have her sheep yoke neck sweater done. It isn't perfect and I really need to work on my tension but I think for my first stranding project (with many colors and my first time following a chart), I did ok. oh btw the button spacing is kinda funky right? the pattern said to do it that way. oh well *sigh*

Lastly some beautiful goodies that just arrived from Shelley aka Waldorf Mama She makes the most beautiful things. I am always so amazed each time something arrives.

Ok back to working, but I would really love everyone's input on how to improve that silly nest! Thanks!!! <3

Let's get this party started!

Thank you everyone for your kind words, wisdom and insight. You all inspire me!
Alright, after all my crafting woes I'm finally back on track (which is a good thing since I only have about 11 days before her birthday!). I think everyone will know our favorite colors after this post, tee hee.

Here's her baby doll's birthday crown. Sweet and simple.

I decided she needed some shorties...ok really I was finding any reason to put off working on her birthday crown (which I still need to do by the way!) so I knitted these up quick with some more yummy Fiona yarn from Three Irish Girls. I will knit her a pair of longies out of this for the fall too. If they look huge to you..it's because they are. I made them the next size up so she can wear them this year and next year, too.

K and I worked on some birthday decorations today. Last week after Circle Time at Kinderhaus the craft was to make tissue paper and beeswax flowers. They were really easy and fun to make. Tiffeni,as always is brilliant!
We decided to make some more to put on C's birthday table.

All it takes is some pipe cleaners, tissue paper and modeling beeswax (although if you don't have that I'm sure you could improvise with something else).
Cut out some flower shapes in the tissue paper (I did 3 for each flower),set them aside.
Get out your modeling wax and take off 2 tiny pieces. Roll one into a snake and 1 into a ball. take the one you rolled into a snake and wrap it around the pipe cleaned about 1/2" from the top.

Then add your tissue paper flowers and then take your wax ball and put it on the top. Voila!

Ok enough computer time, back to creating!
