Technical difficulties

well once again we are having camera issues. Luckily not with the camera itself this time but with the software to upload the pics. it has 'stopped working' according to my computer. *sigh* we are calling canon tomorrow to see about this.

In the meantime here's a couple pics I took last week.

a funny pic of our pup paw paw. He'll be a year old the beginning of December!!

And here's some from around our home:

This shelf is above our changing table. It has 2 of my favorite prints (in my favorite frames from nova natural), diaper changing necessities, C's very special piggie bank, a rattle for distractions and one of our favorite hats made by Shelley Caskey on Etsy ( http://www.waldorfmama.blogspot.com )

This flying kitty hangs above my rocking chair. It looks just like my kitty of 20 years that passed away last January. We call it her angel :)

This is a seasonal mobile that we hang up in the winter time. Its from the grimm's tale 'Starmoney'. We love this story and have quite a few starmoney things through our house at winter time.

Lastly is a beautiful door harp that I haven't put up. I'm probably going to have to wait until we move to put it up. Our house we live in now is rented and falling apart, I could just see this falling right out of one of our cheaply made doors and breaking.

all right, that's about it for now! Happy Thanksgiving. Hopefully my pics will be back to uploading tomorrow!

Look who's knitting now!!

Yep, that's right! My 3 year old K is knitting!! My Waldorf teacher friend showed her, and taught me how to teach her.

Into the lake,
pull out the snake

That's the verse we use when she does it. She loves it! C took a nap the other day and K and I sat on the couch with some hot cocoa, me knitting my project (longies for C) and K knitting hers.

I finished K's hat. The mittens are done too but no pic yet. Every time she puts this on she sings " I'm a little gnome"

Some yummy yarn that arrived at my doorstep the other day:

The farmyard is still on hold but here's some pics I found on my computer from a couple weeks ago:

I wanted to say thank you to everyone, too for your kind words and stories about the stray dogs. You made my day and really helped me with this. Thank you!! <3 <3 I mean it!

Lost and Found

While taking our dogs for a walk last Saturday,in the pouring rain, we came across 3 stray dogs. They were all super friendly and so happy to see us. All 3 looked like they had been through Hell and back, all had grey old faces and 1 could barely walk. 2 of them had collars on but no tags. so Kevin carried the one without the collar and walked the other 2 back to our house. We couldn't just leave them out there, they needed help. We brought them back to our house and by then it stopped raining. Since we have 2 territorial dogs they couldn't just come in the house with us. So one by one Kevin brought them in,bathed them in nice warm water and then put them in a room with food and water away from our animals. We all gave them lots of love. K said they were just her size. The dogs were filthy. I never knew this much filth could exist on a being. The one that was limping was missing teeth and the ones she had were broken. That's when we realized these dogs were neglected and/or abused. That made our hearts break. We think either the dogs escaped their horrible situation or their owners just dumped them. No matter what..it's just sad.
We knew we couldn't keep them..2 dogs,2 cats 1 rat and 2 kids is a lot for us to handle. It wouldn't be fair to any of them to add more on to that..or at least that's what I keep telling myself. I called the few no kill shelters we have and they were all full. There was no place left to bring these guys except for the SPCA. So we had to bring them there. The workers there wee really nice and kept thanking us. We asked them to keep the 3 of them together,at least until they are adopted b/c it was obvious they had always been together. I felt ok when we were dropping them off and felt like I was doing the right thing but then when they took them away tears welled up in my eyes. I was afraid we did the wrong thing. I don't know..what else could we have done? Anything? Should we have kept them longer and tried to find owners for them ourselves? We really had no way to keep them but should I have found a way? I feel like I let them down. What if the SPCA decides they are not adoptable and puts them down?! ughhhhhhh. This is so hard.
Anyways, here's the poor souls that I wish we could have kept and nurtured until their last days. Pics taken after their baths:

What do you guys think? Did we do enough? Did we make the wrong choice? Should we have done more?

Getting Knitty with it...

C and K playing together the other morning. I can't wait til they are able to play together a lot of the time. It's so sweet to watch.
Not the best pic b/c I was in between the playstand but I knew if I moved they would stop playing. That's our fat cat Midnight in the cozy corner in the background. Last time we weighed him he was at 17lbs!!!

I am still avoiding finishing the knitted farmyard. I'm just so frustrated with it right now so I'm settling my mind with other projects. You saw the hat and mittens for C and I just finished a hat for K and an working on the mittens. Pics of that to be posted later :)

I had a custom order from a wonderful mama in C's due date club. This little lamb is her baby's Christmas present. I feel honored to have the opportunity to make this lamb for him.

I decided C needed a sweater to match the one I made for K (for her birthday) It's a little big on her but that's perfect for her to grow into this winter.

C also outgrew her booties so I knitted her another pair but altered the pattern to make them bigger. This yarn is my favorite I LOVE the pink/orange color combo. It's by Three Irish Girls and the color way is 'Fiona' which also happens to be the name of K's best friend!

I didn't make this autumn fairy but I had to share it. She looks so sweet hanging from an oak tree branch above our nature table.

Martinmas

K's nature table in her room:

First I have to say some big news! My baby C who just started getting up on her hands and knees began CRAWLING TODAY! backwards..mind you but crawling none the less!! I can't believe this!
But poor thing has a bad mama :( Even though I know her body has a hard time processing soy at all.. I gave in to the darkside and had a tofu hot dog today..now we are both paying for it. I feel sick and she's having projectile spit up :( *banging head against wall* why did I eat that?!
Ok now back to our Martinmas celebration....

It was a blast as usual. K was excited all day to go. It was a bit crowded but still tons of fun.
Here's K coloring her lantern paper:
C in her cupcake hat and I holding K's lantern:

K walking with her lantern

Our stop in the gazebo for photo ops:

More pics of C in her cupcake hat and mitten set. This pic cracks me up. She's trying to teeth on the chair and her cherry on her mitten looks like some kind of laser or something, tee hee.

I finished knitting these just in time for Martinmas. I never did get the hang of crocheting so I made up my own edging and needle felted the cherry on top.

Holy Week of Milestones, Batman!

Just a quick post....
On Thursday my 6 month old C started saying Mama. I wasn't 100% convinced this was her 1st word though so I didn't say anything about it but ever since then she's been saying Mama a lot, especially when I walk away so It's official her 1st word is 'MAMA' and she said it on November 6th. ( I should add that K's 1st word was 'Dada' )
THEN to add to it, today she got up on her hands and knees and started rocking back and forth!! She'll be crawling soon. I had better finish up my baby proofing asap!
And so my post isn't picture-less here's a pic of Geisha in her new hangout- under the changing table in my basket of baby blankets

C taking a nap the other day.

A big post with more updates will be coming soon. I have been super busy these past couple of weeks. I'm hoping next week things will slow down.

Cooking adventures

What a view!

C was pulling herself up and sucking on the playstands the other day. It was such a sweet thing to see. She's going to be crawling soon, I know it!! She started saying "mum mum mum" yesterday..hopefully Mama will be following!

I love the cooler weather. It makes me want to spend days in a cozy sweater and my apron cooking in the kitchen. In fact that's what I have been doing lately.

I got some yummy Lodge cast iron cookware a month ago or so from a co-op and I love it! Cast iron is so much easier to cook on than everyone had me believing it was. I have been making pankcakes on the cast iron griddle every morning and the taste so much better than my slowly killing us teflon griddle. My homemade pizza dough cooks a million times better on our cast iron pizza pan too.Not to mention that it puts iron into everything you cook on it. I'm in love!

Another favorite of mine is an oldie (I've had it almost 10 years now) but is being put to a lot of use lately. My Le Creuset pumpkin pot. I made some pumpkin soup in it on Halloween to bring to D'Anne's Halloween party. yum, yum!

We recently got the "Waldorf School Book of Soups" and decided to make the butternut squash soup recipe.

It started out looking like this:

and ended up like this:

It was super yummy, especially with our homemade whole wheat bread. I can't wait to try more recipes from this book!

Monkeying around on Halloween

K was a monkey this year for Halloween. I have to say she was a darn cute monkey at that!
Here's my little monkey. She loved her costume!

Monkey Butt!

Trick or treating with Fi and Riley

Checking out her loot at Fi's house:

She collected all her candy and then when we got home she left it out on the kitchen table for the Halloween Fairy to take. She woke up the next morning to some nice little presents from the Halloween Fairy in exchange for all that candy :)
