Winter is only 2 days away!

We actually leave for NY on the 1st day of winter so we decided to start transitioning our fall decorations into winter ones now. We won't finish before we leave but at least we started.

We hung up our window stars from last year on the back door (the circle ones) and made a new yellow window star for the center. We are going to make lots more of these window stars for the rest of the windows in the playroom when we get back.

Of course as you know our camera is broken so the pic of the stars didn't come out that great :(

Following a pattern from Martha Stewart I tried needle felting for the 1st time to make a necklace for the little one. It was meant to be a X-mas present but she found it early. It was a pain to make hole in the acorn caps without a drill and I split quite a few trying. Oh well. I am going to re-string the necklace for her,too when we get back. The thread was too thin and flimsy for the acorns.

I am getting things ready for our trip and figuring out what projects to bring to work on while I am there. More than likely just simple knitted ones that don't require my full attention. We are all very excited to get up to NY and see my family and play in the snow. We haven't been around snow in ages and lini has never really even experienced snow minus a few snowflakes here and there. She's looking forward to building a snowman, going sledding and swimming in Nana's hot tub.

baby needs to match mama right?!

Since I knitted K her mittens, hat and scarf she wanted her 'K Baby' to have some too. So using leftover yarn from K's items I knitted up a matching hat and scarf for her baby. K thinks this is the best thing ever! LOL
See post about St.Nicholas (about 2 posts below this one) to see K in hers.

Booties for little Sprout

These were super easy and fast to knit. I am hoping to make a few more sets before April. These were knit in a nice gender neutral brownish red color in the organic cotton/wool balance. I stuffed them with fabric for the picture so it kind of distorted them.

St.Nicholas celebration at Kinderhaus Toys December 6th

There's our crazy girl wanting to be nakies even though its cold in the house. Her solution is to lay on her wool blanket with another blanket on top of her LOL She is a silly girl obsessed with not wanting to get dressed.

The St. Nicholas celebration at Kinderhaus toys Thursday night. It was a mad house but K had lots of fun.

Here she is picking up her shoe that she had left the week before filled with hay and carrots for ST. Nicholas' donkey. Now it's filled with little presents for her.

As you can see she didn't want to take her hat of all night. She enjoyed playing with a doll and listening to the violinist play music. She also admired the decorations we helped Tiffeni make for her store.

And of course, lastly.. munching on cookies.

baking, knitting and winter wonderland OH MY!

I have been craving carob cake like crazy, but of course we are out of carob and had to make chocolate cake instead. It still tasted good!! K loved helping and eating the batter.

If you remember a few posts back I had started some longies for little sprout and now they are done!! They have a few flaws and I didn't care for the pattern too much. I am trying a new pattern for the next pair. I still need to wash and block them so they look kinda funny. We are going to need quite a few gender neutral pairs of longies and soakers so there will be more to come!

Here is K's finished mittens, scarf and hat set. the mittens were super easy out of the book ' the children's year' and the scarf was a pattern I made up in my head. instead of having her tie the scarf around her neck I made a large buttonhole to pull it through. I think it will stay on her better this way.

the hat... oh my the hat!! i undid and restarted that thing 3-4 times. I was so frustrated with it. then it ended up not even being big enough... so this hat is not perfect but i gave up. i'll make her a nicer one next year.
I lined her mittens and hat with organic cotton batting and then organic knit fabric in a light blue. looks like they'll keep her nice and warm!

Winter Wonderland downtown Saturday the 1st of December.
The event was much smaller than we expected but we still had lots of fun. K got to see people ice skating for the first time and went on her first carriage ride around downtown. She loved that. The horse talked a few times and made K laugh. Daddy didn't get to go on the ride sadly, though,we only had a few bucks on us and it was overpriced!
We also went on the carousel or as K says: the ponies. She loved that. Again our camera being in its bad state didn't get any good pics, this is the best one and well.. you see!

the last bits of autumn

The last couple of weeks of Autumn are wrapping up. We thought we'd post some pictures for you to see before they become too outdated by the winter season.

1st is K's windows in her playroom decorated with fall leaves sent to us by our friend Stacey. The 2nd window was hard to get a photo of so I apologize for the not so pretty photography there. Our camera broke at Disney in October as I mentioned before and we still haven't had it fixed. It's not focusing right and pausing to much when you take a photo now, not to mention the fact that it's being held together by a rubber band!

K is still moving along at her own pace with potty learning. We are not pushing her in any way and just let her use the potty when she wants to,which ends up being about 95% of the time when we are at home. Here she is with 'K Baby'.

One of her favorite things to do right now is give the kitties treats out of her hands. She says it tickles.

Little Sprout

Here's little Sprout yesterday at 21 weeks exactly. I didn't want an u/s this pregnancy but it was ordered due to bleeding in the 1st trimester. All is well thank goodness!!! K was in the room with us but wasn't too interested, I'm sure it's a lot for her to try and fathom!!
