Keep Calm Craft On {crafting on}

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. We had such a fun time hiking with L's Trail Life troop that I completely forgot to snap a Crafting On photo. I am cheating and using an old photo from 2013 but it is at least of the project I am currently working on. I just found my unfinished sweater in a box as I was cleaning out my office closet. I hadn't touched it in nearly three years. I am still in love with it but K was with me when I pulled it out and she let out a squeal when she saw it. It is her favorite color, after all. I let her try it on and it actually fits her rather well. So I thought I would finish it up (it just needs the sleeves) and surprise her on her birthday with it. She will treasure it more than I ever could. And who knows, maybe I can get around to knitting myself another one someday in the future.

I wanted to thank all of you for your encouraging and thoughtful comments on my post yesterday. I felt a bit silly and like I just typed up a long whine after I hit the publish button. I almost took it down. But it also felt good to just get that out there. Your responses truly made see it all from a different perspective and helped me to make peace with it all. Thank you, truly.

You always inspire me with your beautiful knitting! I hope one day to be able to create such beautiful handwork 😊 And I'm so thankful you're feeling better after yesterday. My heart broke reading your post. I've been there many times. Unfortunately, instead of stares I do get a few rude comments (we're Catholic family with five children, five and under). It used to really get to me (and some days it still does. I'm incredibly empathetic) and I would subconsciously come up with rude retorts in my head, but never speak them. But then I realized I'm really only allowing others to dictate my feelings about my family and my vocatation as a mother. Once I began learning to discover the gift God has given me as a mother it became easier and easier to take my children (ALL of them to the store alone) and I aw it as a calling to be love of Christ to my children and by extension. All those witnessing my parenting with grace even when others were less than gracious to me. May God bless you and continually give you the strength when others may try to make you feel less than. Blessings to you and your precious family!

I'm sorry that people were cruel over the weekend, I fear that I THINK why is that baby crying BUT I don't ever give a look or say anything. My son was horrible until he was 2 years old, he was colicky and crying and miserable no matter what we did or tried to do. I remember those days like yesterday and he is 23 yo!! No matter where we went we had our exit plan for when he would be bawling :)

Beautiful! And also my favourite colour ;-) She'll be so happy with it!

I like it very much that you write not only about those pinkish happy times (though I like this as well of course) but also about your struggles and those darker times of motherhood we all know so well, but that get rarely mentioned in blog and magazines. To me this balances you keep in beeing so honest helps me a lot to be in peace with my own challenges and my own sometimes ligter sometimes darker experence of beeing a mom (which never means I would not love beeing a mother, but some days are just happier others more challenging, you know...)

Oh yes, and I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate it that you take the time to respond to your commentators! This truely makes my day and feels so personal and connected! (I try to make this too in my own blog though I sometimes just can't find the time to do so, which makes me even more grateful when I can see other bloggers respond to their comments)
