Real life Pevensie children (Aslan, too!)

The Pevensie children with Aslan
“To the glistening eastern sea, I give you Queen Lucy the Valiant. To the great western woods, King Edmund the Just. To the radiant southern sun, Queen Susan the Gentle. And to the clear northern skies, I give you King Peter the Magnificent. Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia. May your wisdom grace us until the stars rain down from the heavens.”

By now I think you know my feelings about Halloween. This year was different, though. My children requested to be the Pevensie children from the Chronicles of Narnia (our favorite books). It worked out perfectly since I have exactly 2 girls and 2 boys, just like the Pevensies. There was a lot of sewing involved but it was worth it. They requested outfits from the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe movie instead of the books so that more people might recognize who they were. To our surprise most did! I think Beowulf stepping in as Aslan really helped. Some people thought they were a medieval court but then understood once we mentioned Narnia. I think it is safe to say this was their best Halloween yet. Even better still that they now have Narnia costumes to wear on their adventures out in our woods every day. Long live Narnia!!

I shared these pictures with my children and they couldn't stop talking about how much they loved the costumes. We are big Narnia fans here as well. Those came out beautiful.
Wonderful costumes! I love that you included Aslan! That really does set it all apart from just a medieval court. I love homemade costumes- and love Halloween for pretty much only this. (I curse the candy I can't keep myself from snitching.) Halloween never has to be about gorey, scary or demonic things. Of course, we are isolated in the country. We are pretty much the only 'trick or treaters' that anyone has. We stop at like 8 houses of old widows or people without children (who call me up a few days before and ask me if I am coming and come a few days AFTER with all the remaining candy they didn't give away because they had no other trick-or-treaters!) Everyone takes our pictures and we visit with each one. Stopping at 8 houses takes over 3 hours! So we are very isolated- and it can be all about the fun costumes and treats for us. When I lived in the city growing up, I know it was very different. We are very blessed in that way.

You may have been excited about a Narnia theme (and so excited for Halloween) but there are hundreds (thousands) of equally amazing ones that you could do in the future. Don't let this be your only fun Halloween! One of my closest friends just dressed up her troop of 9 children (and herself) as The Wizard of Oz (the book). They were incredible! (check 'em out: http://shotsnaps.blogspot.com/2018/11/halloween-2... And my family went as The Rise of the Guardians characters based off the William Joyce books. All this to say: I hope we see more great costume fun here in the future!

I love that your costumes are so well made that they can be worn much more than just one night- they are actually clothes that can be worn whenever. They will provide lots of pleasure in the days to come which is just delightful.
I love these costumes, your kids and the dog look amazing. And they will love to dress up in these for ages to come. Wonderful. Its not such a big thing here in the UK and esp in the village where we live, so we get a good balance of dressing up, wandering around a few dozen houses and having a little basket of sweets that can be eaten up in a week and then its all done for another year!
Wow, what wonderful costumes. They all look really great, but your dog has an expression that is so regal - King of the Jungle.
