On these last days of winter

453 455 474 511 541 534 320 390 414 402 444 434 429 501 499 493 Before I know it our little world will no longer be dormant but very busy and alive filled with lush, green landscapes and the songs of spring. I thought about this many times over the past couple of months while keeping warm by the wood stove. I may have even dreamed about it. But as much as I have been (and still am) looking forward to spring, I want to just pause and savor these last few quiet moments of winter. It has such a unique allure that can not be denied.

I know a little pussy,
her coat is pearly grey.
She lives out in the meadow,
not very far away.

She'll always be a pussy,
She'll never be a cat.
For she is a pussy willow,
Now, what do you think of that?

Meow, meow.
Meow, meow, meow.

                                    -Traditional Waldorf Kindergarten verse
(C and I have been enjoying this song at circle time)

I love that verse! And I agree with you, I am trying to pay close attention to these last days - soon the outdoors and all its wonder (and work if I am being honest) will be calling, and the quiet indoor days will be gone for a little while.
Beautiful pictures!

Yes! I'll miss the wood stove days but be thrilled about not needing them, too ;)
Love it! What tune do you use for that verse?

Hmm, you know I am not sure I could describe it. We found it in the Sing a Song of Seasons book by naturally you can sing. I know they have clips of their songs on their website...maybe it will be there?
Love it... Also, trying to enjoy the last days of our Winter.. It stills looks like here..smile..

Ha, I know. Not so much here in Oregon but other than rain it doesn't seem toever look like winter here.
We are so close to spring! Thank you for the reminder to savor these last few days of being dormant.
You are an inspiration always.

Thank you! Yes only a few days away now!!
We sing that song in May here in Fairbanks, lol. King Winter is still high on his throne.
Oh and that song with music is also in Spring, as in the set of books Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer, Spindrift, and Gateways.
