While We Were Gone...

I ended up being away longer than I expected, even missing my favorite day to post : Wednesday. Truth is, even if I was better on Wednesday I wouldn't have had anything to post anyways, I can't focus on creating when I am sick, every time I try it ends up a disaster.

When I last posted I thought we were all on the road to recovery, and I was partially correct. The girls are pretty much all better minus some runny noses, I on the other hand, got worse. Since I thought I was getting better I started pushing myself trying to do too much before my body was ready for me to and I wound up with mastitis...again. So, the girls and I have been staying in bed and just having periods of light activities to get us through the days.

While we were gone, we have been:

Drinking lots and lots of tea

Bird watching

While the girls have been creating...

and I have been only able to think and dream about it

Because I was stuck here or in bed

Ignoring this

Celebrating doll birthdays (K decided bread with uncooked pasta stuck in it like candles was cake)

...many,

many times

Inviting friends, both big

and small

I hope you all had a great week. I'll be back Monday with an exciting giveaway and *hopefully* back to my regular postings. I have so many things I have been meaning to post about (like my fun drop spindle class) and can't wait to do it!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I love the birthday cakes. That is so sweet.

I hope you are well soon. That is so hard to be sick. Do you get mastitis a lot? I do until I started using some remedies but I can't remember what they are (a mastitis compress and tea maybe).

Mastitis, ugh! I ended up with that when we were at my inlaws over Christmas. Not fun at all, I do hope you are back to feeling well quickly.

Adorable post on this rainy (here in SF) Friday. I too have had many bouts of mastitis, in my (only) two years of nursing. Each time gets a bit worse too! Speedy healing to you...

Ugh--I am so sorry about the mastitis--it is the WORST. I didn't understand how bad it was until I got it myself and WOW does it keep you in bed. Feel better, get lots of rest, drink more tea, get more rest... See you when you are better.

I found my way to this blog while looking up amanda soule. The whole "I hate A.S. j/k" march 2009 the comments were interesting but here's the thing I think it physically impossible for one person to do all that. I have two words--cleaning service. I like your blog though much more relatable/honest, less commercial.
i hope you all feel better, and am glad you admit weakness.

Thank you everyone. You are all so sweet. Mastitis is no fun and I am so sorry so many of you had to go through it at one time or another, too!!

Kate - That sheepskin is actually K's. She put it on the couch for me to curl up on <3 We got it from my friend Tiffeni.

Kelly - This is the 2nd time I have had mastitis. The first time was the day we moved into this house 5 months ago.

Al - Hey there! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to say hi! I appreciate your thoughts.
I noticed that post gets googled a lot and I wanted to take this chance to clear something up. It is in no way, shape or form an 'I hate Amanda Soule' post(We actually don't even use the word 'hate' in our house. I feel it is much too strong of a word.) I LOVE Amanda Soule. She is such inspiration and one of those true 'craft hereos'. I would so love to be able to make a living doing what I love like she does.
Back when I typed that post I was having a very hard time finding balance (and I am still always trying to find it) so I was frustrated but I was really almost posting to Amanda asking for her help.
I am so sorry to everyone and anyone who may have read that post thinking it was something that it was not.

Thank you, Al, for reminding me to clear the air on that post, I have been meaning to for a long time and just kept forgetting.

Glad that you are on the mend, and it still looks like you were all able to enjoy your days, even with a miserable bout of sickness
