WIP Wednesday: Christmas Past

A photographic journey of some of the things I finished for my family's handmade Christmas.

Last minute angel tree ornament

Catnip and wool mice for the kitties

K's doll bed pillow and mattress (Oh, how I love this little red riding hood fabric!)

C baby's gnomey, gnomey, gnome hat (to match C's gnomey, gnomey, gnome hat)

K baby's gnomey, gnomey, gnome hat (to match K's)

Lastly, C's doll bed quilt. It has it's imperfections... oh yes, quite a few, but overall I am happy with how it came out, and most important C loves it! Thank you to my dear friend Marina for her inspiration and reminding me that you can never have to much pink!

C inspecting and pointing out everything she sees

Finally taking on this mini-quilting project has given me enough confidence now that I look forward to doing more, and I am kind of left wondering, What was I so afraid of ? I actually just ordered some beautiful fabric from Anna Maria Horner to make a simple patchwork quilt throw for our couch. Let's hope this confidence sticks with me for that...

I plan on sharing more of our handmade Christmas in posts to come!
Happy Creating!

I almost forgot to mention, a new online magazine about Waldorf at home called rhythm of the home, I have it listed under the websites we love section, but you can also see it here.

So great! I love the quilt...you can never have too much pink! I really want to make the gnome hat for my kids...but the link on ravelry isn't working! Sad me!!! In the mean time I have some beautiful malabrigo twist in the "parisian night" colorway to make a little pilot cap for my Benj. I also have a quilt project underway...started last summer....but I want to finish it for Mia's 5th (jan 22!) yikes...it is for her bed! Happy Creating!!!

You did a great job! I started a quilt yesterday that I posted on Flickr WIP. Keep sewing!

Again, the little doll beds--so cute! And the wee quilt on top is just perfect! I think maybe I should make a few of those for practice quilting on my machine.

Oh my gosh. That doll quilt and the pillows are the prettiest things I have ever seen. The fabric is adorable and you did a lovely job. My meager sewing skills feel quite unprepared for such a task. Well done.

so sweet! everything is beautiful.

I'm also 'starting small' in the quilt department--best wishes to you as you try your hand at it!

I think I've gone mad over this gnome/hedgehog fabric before. oooooh! It's tooo cute. I had a dream a few nights ago that I was trying to sew something. Hmmmm...maybe I should go ahead and get this fabric for when the sewing day actually comes :-). What a special christmas! Looking forward to seeing more.

I love how the quilt turned out! That gnome border is awesome (where did you find that!?) and the hedgehog print on back is adorable! You can do anything you set your mind to!

You inspire me daily in all sorts of ways, my fun friend, glad I could return the favor :)

Less than 3..xoxo

Oh, you'll find yourself in love with quilting soon enough! My favorite project so far was with Anna Maria Horner's "Good Folks" fabric. Want to see what I made: http://www.euphoriababy.com/blog/fashion-fun/patchwork-style-in-my-home/

I love the light green wool for the angel rather than the traditional (and expected) white! +Chelsea

I love that hedgehog fabric! Everything looks great and so, so sweet. Your girls and their dollies are such little darlings.

I'm working up the courage to go back to work on my first full sized quilt myself.

I've been following your blog for awhile, but am just now finally leaving a comment! I've been loving all your inspiring crafts. I love the red riding hood fabric -where did you get it (and most of the fabrics for that matter)? happy holidays!

What a beautiful dollbaby quilt and pillow. That's how I first started out too. I made a baby doll quilt out of some of my daughter's baby clothes and I loved it so much I started making bigger quilts for us to use. Great job, it's gorgeous.

The gnomey hats are SO adorable, on the dolls and on C. :) The doll bed/quilt is just beautiful! The quilt looks absolutely perfect to me. My mom's staying with me this week, and she even commented to me on how beautiful it is. BTW, I did not make Elizabeth's quilt. I've done little to no quilting since a brief churn-out-3-quilts-in-6-months phase in high school. :)

I love all of this!! My grandmother made my sister and I each a doll pillow and quilt for our doll cradles. My kids now play with these items and they are so treasured. May yours be past down through generations also!

What blessed children you have to enjoy such wonderful handmade goodness.

Oh my goodness, thank you everyone!! Words can't describe the giddiness I am feeling knowing that you all approve of my first quilt. Your opinons truly do mean so much to me. Thank you, thank you!!

Kimberley - try this link: http://www.etsy.com/shop/lyalya

Momma rae - My wonderful friend from PA made C's baby (she's Gopita's Dolls on ETSY) and K's baby was made by Joy at Joy's Waldorf Dolls. I have only made smaller waldorf dolls so far.... :)

My Child's Diary - The doll hats are from the Lyala hoodie pattern http://www.etsy.com/shop/lyalya just made in the smallest size with smaller needles. The mice are something I just based off of a pattern in one of my knitted animal books but altered. The book is listed in the notes on the ravelry page. My name on there is farmerGOPI. HTH!

Grace - I got all the fabric off etsy. I just did a search for little red riding hood.

Marina - I found that gnome fabric on Etsy but it is really hard to find so I had to buy half of a pant leg!! It was just enough to make the quilt and pillow, phew!

Mika - I got it on Etsy :)

Thank you again everyone!!! Much love to you all!!

Wonderful and so beautiful! Love little K pointing to the things on her new quilt.

It's funny, I just bought a book on crazy quilts and patchwork at the used bookstore. I have very little experience on a sewing machine; but I'm hoping to learn this year.

Happy New Year Nicole to you and your family! BTW, congratulations on the magazine publish!

So much sweetness! You have inspired me to make a gnomeish dolly quilt and finish the little wooden doll bed kit I got 10 years ago...It's too late for my big girls, thank goodness I still have a little one!
