Infected

Boxes, boxes and more boxes
We are back! Perhaps not fully here mentally but here none the less. We moved into our home last Monday night after signing our lives away. The girls did non-stop happy dances for days. We pretty much camped out in the house until Friday, when all of our belongings arrived from storage. We did have our U-Haul full of stuff that we pulled cross country, but that wasn't really necessities, just things we didn't want the movers to break (Anyone that has had to use movers hired by your employer knows what I am talking about.).

Play in our front window

The girls ended up having to spend a day in their pj's playing with daddy. For the first time in my four years of nursing I ended up with a pretty bad breast infection. I felt so sick I couldn't open my eyes, let alone get out of bed for a full day. I had to wait until I felt a little bit better the following day to get help. Since all of my resources were packed up and we didn't have any internet, I called my wonderful La Leche League leader back in Virginia. She was able to diagnose me over the phone and help me find my local LLL. I don't know what I would have done without her. Thank you, Angela! I went to the local Urgent Care Center and surprisingly got a good doctor who helped me on the road to recovery. It was not fun to go through but I do have to say I feel pretty blessed to have had this be my first nursing issue in four years.
That said, I wasn't able to take a lot of photos but here's a few moments I caught last week.

Watching the movers arrive & eating breakfast

So happy to have their music back

I hope everyone had a wonderful week! Thanks for not holding any grudges from my week away, I know I truly missed being here. Wishing you all the best!

oh wow. i know how you feel (minus the new home part)...i just got over my second breast infection this year. i didn't have one with my first kiddo (i guess i wasn't trying to do as much). i couldn't believe how quickly it knocks you out. i hope you feel better and continue to settle into your new home.

I do hope you are feeling better after your infection, Le Leche League is a wonderful organisation, I was a leader for them for quite a few years when my two oldest daughters were little. They taught me so much :) Enjoy your new home :)

Regards

Linda

I am really sorry for what happened to you, and in the middle of the moving, but well, also happy to hear you are better now.

oh nicole. i am so glad you are settling in. it sounds like the worst is behind you and i'll hope that's the case.
moving is so hard on the body. it is extra hard on the nursing mama...taking a break and nurse when there is no place to sit and relax, not to mention a stopping point, plus stress.
my heart goes out to you. i am so glad you had a great LLL leader to call.
moving is a major life occurrence. be gentle.
i wish i were there to help unpack, wash dishes and the like. instead i'll wish you deep peace knowing it will all unfold as it is intended.

loving kindness,
hillary

Sorry to hear about your infection. I had one after the birth of my 3rd, and I was knocked out for several weeks. Not literally. But I kept having dizzy spells and weird things from it. I know it's not fun. It may have only happened to you now from the stress of moving. Hope all is well!

Oh Nicole, sorry to hear about your infection. Please be gentle with yourself and don't try to unpack everything at once. I swear, your Ostheimer figures will still be there! (You know I am just teasing you, cherished friend).

So glad you are HOME with your family all together. I'm sending many tight hugs and healing thoughts...

Mastitis is terrible! I've had it with all 3 of my kids, never fail around 8 weeks after delivery. I am so glad you are feeling better. I cringed a little when you wrote about "signing your lives away". Did that mean you signed your mortgage papers, or just a lease? Either way I hope you are ok about things and look forward to reading more of your posts as I'm a new subscriber. My blessings I send to you that your new home will be a haven of health, joy and love.

I'm so sorry to hear about your infection on top of trying to deal with movers...you poor thing!! It's wonderful that you still have a resource to pull from and that you now know your local LLL'ers! Hopefully now that your feeling better, you can enjoy unpacking and putting everything into it's new home :D I have to admit...I'm just a wee bit jealous-lol! Can't wait until we can finally get to the area as well :D All in due time!

Dear Nicole, I guess it is not surprising that you wore yourself out with all you have been doing the past couple months. I hope you are able to get lots and lots of rest.
It's nice to get a few peeks at your new place. Congratulations on being in your own home again!

I'm glad to hear you are on the mend. I was never plagued with that unfortunate side effect of bf'ing, but I know plenty of moms who have been. Good luck getting settled in and welcome back! :)

So sorry about the infection. Those are nasty. I'm glad you are on the road to recovery. Moving is so tough! Get your rest, and don't worry about unpacking quickly. You have time. Take care!

So happy for you all with the new home, and finally having your things arrive. But sorry to hear about the breast infection - they come on so quickly! I had my first right about 4 years of nursing.

Blessings for settling in and creating a home out of a house.

Peace,
Carrie

ugh, I hope you're feeling better. Mastitis always seems to strike when you're stressed or sleep-deprived. I'm sure your move is causing at least a little of both. Hope you guys are all cosy and settled in your new place very soon.

I am glad you are feeling better and are moved in. I got a breast infection with my youngest and it was awful- I couldn't believe how quickly I got sick and how sick I got with it. I hope you are able to have a mellow settling in and healing time.

Ugh, I had chronic mastitis with both of my girls. Fevers, aches and pains....felt like the flu.

I'm so glad you are starting to feel better and are getting settled in to your new home. It sure has been quite a journey for you all.

I meant to leave a comment when you were ill, but I had my hands full dealing with a different sort of illness here.

I'm coming up on a decade of nursing myself, and I've had more then my fair share of breast infections. I seem to be prone to them, possibly due to an injury in my youth. Because of this I actually wrote a post on my blog a little while ago, with a list of things that have helped me in the past. I also asked for readers to add there own tips in hopes of creating a resource for other women. It's here: http://littlehomeblessings.blogspot.com/2009/07/mastitis.html in case you want to bookmark if for future emergency use! Hopefully it will never come up for you again though.

Congratulations on your new home! I'm glad you are feeling better now and able to enjoy settling in.
