Michaelmas

2 post in 1 night! Wow! I'm on a roll!!Blah. Actually,I just can't sleep!!

Today is Michaelmas. It is a time for celebrating strength and courage, for facing dragons, external and internal. It is a time for harvest, a time for storing away that which we need for the cold dark months ahead. The flashing meteor showers are said to be the sword he wields for us;each falling star is made of iron-the iron we need to strengthen the resolution of our heart.Michael beckons us to find the spirit to come alive through the dying year. The seed-thoughts of the summer can be harvested now as deeds.

We celebrated it on Saturday b/c Kinderhaus did their celebration then We have had our dragon out on our kitchen table all week, and K requested I draw a dragon on her chalkboard. No pic of that though b/c it was a horrible drawing!! Kevin asked why there was a green horse with wings on the chalkboard!
Anyways, K wore red, her brave dragon fighting color and off we went!

The sign announcing Michaelmas, yeah it says dragon day, I know. She has to call it that b/c most people do not know about Michaelmas:

Party weekend!! (a million pics!sorry!)

K and her best friend Fi are only 2 day apart in age so we have their birthday parties the same weekend and it ends up being a big party weekend! LOL It's so much fun.
Here's some pics from Fi's party on Saturday. Her party was beautiful. She is the sweetest little girl in the world. I love being around her so much,as does K and even C :)

Here's K,Fi and Ri playing with bubbles

pin the tail on the monkey:

Best Friends:
Aren't they so cute together?!

It makes me so sad to think this is the last year they'll be doing birthday weekend. Fi will be moving to Fl. next year and who knows where Kevin's job will move us next.

And heres some pics from K' party. I forgot to take a pic of her happy birthday banner that I bought on Etsy. Its so cute! oh well. anyways here goes:

oh and if you couldn't tell...it was autumn themed..almost more squirrel themed LOL

The yummy station decorations:

The yummies (we made pumpkin muffins from the Waldorf Kindergarten snack book):

Her table set up:

A gift from her Nana and Grampa. K loves to play doctor!

As a party activity we made wool felted bracelets. I got the instructions off of the red-dirt-mother blog (see blog list on right). Ri made a snake :) Thanks to grandma or her birthday present to K of the washboard and basin, this craft was easier and more fun! We can't wait to make some felted pumpkins with them!

Lastly: K's birthday cake with her cake topper that was mine when I turned 3.
She reuested carrot cake so again we used our trusty Waldorf Kindergarten snack book and made a healthy sugar free carrot cake. It was yummy!

ETA: I still have some pics of K and grandma from her visit to upload off my camera.. I'm slacking!!
Be back soon with more posts!!

K's 3rd Birthday

So this is the actual day of her birthday. It was a nice quiet simple day.
I read her the 'birthday eve' poem before bed and replace her regular pillow case with her birthday one. When daddy went to work that morning he put her birthday crown on the pillow next to her so she'd see it when she woke up...and she did! She came running downstairs and jumped into bed with C and I wearing it. It was very sweet. She kept it on the whole day actually. She saw me put some much into it and it seem like that made her realize just how special it was.

I made her what she wanted for breakfast, she wanted a fruit salad and some oatmeal with blueberries and maple syrup. She played with her cake topper.

I told her birth story, and we looked through her baby book and photo albums.
We decorated for Autumn and made Autumn cookies

She got a package from Uncle Mark,Aunt Theresa and her cousins and it was a bunch of clothes (she's wearing on of the dresses in the pic below) and a cute gardening set. She loved it all!

She got dressed for her picture people appt and then Grandma arrived. We set up her birthday ring and told her the Rainbow Bridge story while lighting all 3 of her candles. She enjoyed blowing them out!

Pics of her birthday party on Sunday to come!!

C's sweater and K' birthday present

I finished these back in August but am just now getting around to posting pics.
The blue sweater is K's birthday present this year. I obviously don't have any pics of her wearing it yet but once she opens it on Sunday I'll get some ;) I hope she likes it, I made it at her request. It was knit in the round,so no seams! I couldn't help but knit one for C too. I took these pic before I blocked it so now it's a bit bigger on her, which is what I need since she won't be wearing it for anothr month or so. I couldn't really get and good pics of her wearing it, I apologize. I'm going to knit her a blue one to match K's once I know that K's fits ok.

Again pics of another satisfied customer :)

love to eat fingers yum,yum!

I'm really quite excited over K's birthday this year. This is the 1st year I was able to convince Kevin to not buy a bunch of presents and just stick to something simple and handmade she will cherish. "less is more" Her party will be very simple as well. I 'll post info to follow....

C's first baby doll

It's been a crafty kind of month or two here lately.

I know its kind of young for her to have her first baby but I couldn't resist. Plus this doll is so simple it seems perfect for the first year.

I made her last night and did the finishing touches during nap time today. K loved watching me sew C's doll. I'm glad she enjoyed watching because it's a good thing for her to see me sew.

I have been meaning to post a new pic of the first doll I ever made (Conkin as K as lovingly named her) because she now has hair! Thanks to Grandma Conkin is no longer bald! Yay! K is very happy over this.

K wanted to model Conkin and C's baby for everyone (Yep, she's still wearing my dress. She won't take it off! She calls it her 'boots and sweetpea dress' because of our pet rats 'Boots and Sweet Pea'. She doesn't know anything of Mickey or Minnie mouse.

And here is our satisfied customer. LOL. I think she likes her baby, even if she only teeths on it right now :)

I'm making another one this week but bigger and I have to make K another 'night night baby' as I accidentally soaked her other one and it was stuffed with millet so now its all smelly and gross :(

K's finished (I think) Birthday Crown

Done just in the nick of time! I had a felting emergency and luckily gossamerrose off of etsy saved me!
I stuck with the apples and the fabric covering the elastic in back is apples as well. September is just an apple kind of month!

Anyways, here it is. I made some adjustments, mostly in color schemes. I am still undecided about the white trim though...what do you think? I didit in white originally so it matched the toadstools, was contrasting but yet simple to not add too much..but now it seems like maybe too much.. i dunno.

Summer go away! Autumn come and play!

There's a sneak peek at K's almost finished crown ;) Its less than 2 week until K's birthday. I am almost done with her crown but made a mistake so I am waiting on some more felt to come in the mail to fix it. Fingers crossed it comes in time!

Ok maybe I shouldn't be that mean to summer but man I am so sick of the heat! I want my nice cool crisp autumn days. well, I won't get them here, VA doesn't get that cool til winter but still *cooler* days than what we have been having would be very nice!! LOL

Anyways, to close up the summer season I thought I'd post some summer pics I haven't gotten around to putting up here yet.

1st..here's our kitchen window sill. Yummy tomatoes all lined up. These were picked before their prime by a wandering toddler hand while her Mama was busy hanging laundry on the line.

Next some crafty moments with K.

She loves her window crayons. It's hard to get a photo of the drawings on the window but hopefully you can kind of see them here:

She's been painting a lot lately too (the wet on wet method,of course).

Here K is a couple weeks ago picking tomatoes and radishes out of the garden. Paw Paw enjoyed tearing them to pieces. This pic reminds me of little red riding hood and the big bad wolf! LOL
On a side note, thats was my dress from when I was little!

C just being her cute self!
