She's in the shop for 8-12 weeks!!!!!!!!

No not my kids or my animals, my other baby my camera :( It was dropped back in October when we went to Disney and has been very messed up since then. We finally bit the bullet and brought it in to be repaired. ESTIMATED at $224.00 to repair and 8-12 weeks with no nice camera :( I'm going through withdrawal all ready and it hasn't even been a week! I'm buying a nice portait lense for it too and now I have to wait to use it :( Kevin has a digital point and shoot so we at least have something to get us by until I get my baby back but of course that won't be anywhere near as nice. *sigh*
Anyways, heres some pics taken a week ago or so.
Here's E sleeping in the beco. This is the view I get when I wear her.

She's getting so so CHUBBY!! It's pretty funny.
Here's a pic of K in a skirt my friend made her. This picture doesn't show how beautiful this skirt really is. I'll have to get more pics. K has a couple more outfits from her too and E got a dress from her as well. Look at how CHUBBY she has gotten since E was born! She has gained 4-5 lbs!!

Our garden is ready for planting now!!

Kevin put up the fence last weekend and tilled the soil. We are plantin this weekend. I can't wait. We are last in the season this year but should still be ok.

soy free foods: the good and the bad

Well last night I made my black bean and sweet potato enchiladas. yum, yum. But we had to make some adjustments.... no toffutti sour cream to top them with anymore so I made some homemade guacamole. We also topped them with some of the 'cheese' I had leftover from the pizza I made. Those switches were great but 1 switch was not so good. We went grocery shopping yesterday and I picked up some tortilla shells for our enchiladas..well they ALL had soy of some kind in them :( The only 1 that didn't was a set made out of brown rice. I figured we'd give those a try. Well, they taste ok BUT the completely FALL APART! Just trying to roll up the enchiladas to put in the oven they would crack and fall apart. So that's not as appealing visually, or as easy to eat but they make do I guess. I am going to search for other options and possibly just make my own from scratch. We'll see!

Enchiladas, the 2 on the left are with normal tortillas (Kevin got to eat those)

I've been making whole wheat bread too. No pics of that right now. I made a loaf Saturday and it's almost gone! Last night I made Kevin a loaf to bring to work for the week, too.

We went thrift store shopping Saturday and found this rocking horse for the girls. Its not the cutest thing in the world but it was only a few bucks and has a nice rocker on it. I re-stained it with 'tried and true' and I plan on adding a new tail.. anyone know how?

Back to basics, the simple life

Pretty much since becoming pregnant with C I stopped making home made food and we ate processed junk or ate out. It was organic but still processed and not good for our bodies. Well C is making me change that, thank goodness, I needed this push to get back on track. C is still congested, it's been almost a month now, we can't figure it out. I was told of the possibility of a food sensitivity. Soy and dairy are the biggest offenders for babies and since I don't consume dairy I am left with soy.
Let me lament for a moment over the love of soy.. *sigh* It's literally in EVERYTHING in one form or another. And I do really love our fake items that all contain high amounts of processed soy (fake meats, fake cheeses, etc etc) so I know this will not be easy. The whole family will be omitting soy this time around. When I had K she had a soy sensitivity the first few months of her life but Kevin still ate soy while I tried to go without. That made it a lot harder. But this time around we are all doing it to see how it affects us and if it makes us all healthier.
So as you can see I was sad about this transition at 1st but now I'm excited over it. I miss making meals from scratch and now pretty much every meal will need to be made this way. I have also been meaning to get us sugar-free and since I am making everything myself now I will get the sugar out of our lives too! We had whole wheat pancakes this morning for breakfast- yum,yum which is the beginning of our soy free life.
I made some home made soy-free and sugar-free BBQ sauce this morning too and I will be making some soy-free cheese in a bit for our dinner tonight. We are going to have a 'Native Foods' BBQ pizza. *drool* Kevin had K while I made the sauce and C was in the beco on my chest but we'll see how I do with all this 'from scratch' cooking once Kevin is back at work (Monday YIKES!).

and here's what we had for dinner... BBQ pizza!
It was yummy minus the pizza dough I made being a bit too thick so I will cut it in half next time. I ran out of time so I made the dough in the bread maker. Ahhhh yes, I cheated a bit!
I made the cheese which was super yummy and cooked some Peppers and onions to put on it. I also added some BBQ'ed seitan and some fresh cut cilantro. I didn't take pics of the 'cheese' on the pizza b/c I was supposed to pipe it on but I made the 'cheese' too late to it was too liquidy to pipe. Next time I'll have pics of that!

Grandma's visit and other things

Grandma (Kevin's mom) came down to visit us for most of last week. It was really nice and K had a bast with her (see pics!). She had more energy with K than I ever do! Poor C didn't get much time with her though b/c she was just 2 week at that point and only slept and nursed the whole time she was here. Even the kitties were happy to see her. This was the 1st time they met her.
We went out to a few places during her visit but mostly stayed home resting and playing. We had the pics at picture people taken while she was here too so she got to experience the beanie madness there LOL.
She brought beanie presents and beanie is in love with the BIG box of waldorf beeswax crayons. She plays with the everyday.
She helped me,personally, out so much during her visit and I am beyond thankful for that!!

K once again being a monkey hanging from the tire in our backyard.

K wanted her picture taken so how could I refuse? This is her eating her organic just mangoes pretending to be a kitty.
