Crafting On

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Hey everyone! I hope you al had a beautiful Thanksgiving. I m currently not working on anything but moving boxes (more on that to come) but I wanted to share my friend Grace's (of UncommonGrace) beautiful handmade Waldorf dolls. They just went live on Cyber Monday and are sure to sell out fast. This year she even has eight literary inspired dolls(Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, Laura and Mary Ingalls to name a few). She only makes them one a year so you might want to hurry! Her shop is: http://www.uncommon-grace.com/

Grace is offering all of you 10% off with code holiday19

Thank you for supporting small business!!!

Sorry for my late post. The time change did me in. Anyways, after a 7 year hiatus I am back to work on this beautiful cross stitch. We learned/reviewed cross stitching at my latest CCHM (Confraternity of Catholic Homeschool Mothers) meeting and I fell back in love with it.

Sorry for the late night dark and blurry photo. I was so busy all day I forgot to take my KCCO photo until the last minute of daylight. I am still working on the girls Saint Lucia gowns. Almost done with K's and then on to C's. What are you working on? Happy creating!

Getting a head start on this years Santa Lucia dresses for the girls. As I am pinning all these tiny little pins for pleats I find myself repeating, "It is all worth it in the end". Phew!

Chunky Pumpkin Knitting Pattern Release! (Crafting On)

After nearly a year's wait I finally finished up my Chunky Pumpkin knitting pattern. I am so excited to share it with all of you! This life sized knit has been such a joy to create. My children and I are loving having a house full of them (I kid you not, they are addicting to make!)

Pumpkins are one of my most favorite things about Autumn but sadly the don’t last the whole season through. This life-sized cozy chunky knit pumpkin will stay with you indefinitely bringing autumn’s splendor into your home. They also make great play pumpkins for children.
This pattern knits up fast allowing you to fill your home with their coziness within days. You can easily adjust the size of your pumpkin by using smaller needles, knitting in less height and/or lighter weight yarn. You could even needle felt a Jack O’ Lantern face on to it for Halloween. The possibilities are endless!

I hope you enjoy my Chunky Pumpkin Knitting Pattern!

Keeping with my autumn theme, I am finally finishing up that acorn baby I started years ago at Portland Waldorf School. I took a poll on Instagram to decide on what color eyes he should have and the overwhelming response was blue. I'll be embroidering those on tonight.

Apparently I have had a theme with my knitting lately - silver and gold! I finished up a test knit for Baby F, and a hat for myself. Now I am on to K's requested birthday knit - a new shawl.

Another C edition to Crafting On. 😍 She finished her very first sewing machine project - a quilt. All done free hand and without any help. This sweet little Lucy of mine inspires and never ceases to amaze me!

My latest project flew off my needles so fast that I didn't even get to document it. I started them on Saturday and had them done by Monday. They are some sweet little slippers. The sole and pattern were gifted to me many years ago by one of you lovely readers! They may have been originally intended for either Baby C or L. I have had them for so long but would constantly misplace either the soles or the pattern so I never got the chance to make them. Well, I guess the stars aligned last week because I found both the soles and the pattern and they actually fit Baby F right now.  He saw me working on them and said, “Oh Mama! You’re making me pumpkin spice slippers?” Where he got the pumpkin spice part from. I do not know but that is what they shall forever be known as.

This past week C has had the sewing itch. She has loved hand sewing for as long as I can remember and enjoys making things like the scrap doll you see pictured above. But now that she is eleven, she feels ready to try out the sewing machine. In true C style, she didn't pick a small project to start with. Instead she is making a quilt, freestyle. She cut the rectangles out by eye and sewing them together. Now she is going to sew them to the batting and back and then bind it. I am totally impressed with her sewing skills. Her very first project is something I have yet to master!
