Crafting On

The act of creating, in one form or another, preserves my sanity amongst the chaos of life. This explains why I always have more than one project going at a time as well as why my housework tends to fall behind. I enjoy seeing what others are working on and keeping calm with, too. What are you creating? What is keeping you going? Snap a picture or two, post it on your blog, on Instagram #craftingon and/or Flickr and then share it with the rest of us by leaving your link below.

 Still slowly working on that little deer hat...

Well, hello there! {end of the school year}

Hello there! Long time no see! To show you just how long it has been I am sharing photos from back in June. 🙈 We took the kids to Knoebels Amusement Park for our end of the school year celebration. It might become a new family tradition for us. We all had such a good time - just look at all those happy faces in the pictures!

As we entered the park they stamped Baby F's hand with the word Little. There was just something so unbearably poignant about that word being placed on his tiny hand. He was such a big boy riding all the rides at the park. He had no fear (he never has). He longed to be older and taller to ride the roller coasters with his siblings but all I could think was, "Please slow down! We are going to miss these little years."

This past week C has had the sewing itch. She has loved hand sewing for as long as I can remember and enjoys making things like the scrap doll you see pictured above. But now that she is eleven, she feels ready to try out the sewing machine. In true C style, she didn't pick a small project to start with. Instead she is making a quilt, freestyle. She cut the rectangles out by eye and sewing them together. Now she is going to sew them to the batting and back and then bind it. I am totally impressed with her sewing skills. Her very first project is something I have yet to master!

I received another Stitch and Story kit in the mail. Time to practice some more crocheting.

p.s. That blanket in the background is one of my new favorite knits.

 Little L and I are doing some summer schooling. He is struggling in one area so we are finding fun, creative ways to help him through it. I decided a new knitting project was in order to keep my hands busy while we are schooling.

 After I announced that I had no time for knitting, this sweet little baby bunny hat found its way onto my needles. Funny how that works out.

p.s. The book pictured is Frühling
