Congrats Kristine! Please e-mail me at: farmergopi@yahoo.com.

Thanks everyone for entering. I hope you all check out the expo.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently had the pleasure of chatting a bit with Donna Ashton. Donna is the host of The Waldorf Connection, a tool for homeschooling families to increase their knowledge on Waldorf related subjects, parenting and rhythm. By hosting online workshops with Waldorf teachers, experts & visionaries, she bring this information to families who are using Waldorf-inspired education.

I have to say that I am really excited about what she has put together. She truly has created a great resource for Waldorf homeschooling. One of the reasons why I, personally, have been afraid to try homeschooling is because I feel so overwhelmed with all of the choices out there, and I am so afraid of doing something wrong. It seems like with her information I would feel a lot more confident and prepared to handle it all.

In her own words:

I am a homeschooling mom of twins, 7. We live in a serene beach town, where homeschooling support is minimal. In fact, there are only a few families that are using Waldorf -inspired methods.

When I began my homeschooling, I realized I needed much more that what was available to me locally. I turned to the online Waldorf community and what a help it was! I honestly don’t think I would be homeschooling in this way, had it not been for the resources I found online. At first, it was hard to find anything much about Waldorf. But in the last year or so, a wide variety of wonderful materials has become available!

To me, it was still a challenge to figure it all out. I am a visual person that like to “see it”. Or at least, ask someone questions until it makes sense to me. I was tired of waking up in the night wondering if, “Am I doing this right?” “Should I be doing more? less?” As homeschooling parents we make some very important decisions about our children's education and lives. I like to see all the pieces of the puzzle before I put it together.

That’s why The Waldorf Connection was created. A venue to ask questions, get ideas and put the pieces all together.

"The Waldorf Homeschool Expo" starts May 27 and runs through June 29. It was designed after a regular Homeschool expo, but online. I am hosting 15+ workshops on planning, grade overviews, parenting, rhythm, multiple-age homeschooling, rites of passage, music and more! Are you wondering which curriculum to choose for next year? Come listen to your favorite speaker and see what they offer before you buy. Peruse our Vendor Room with online store displaying their books, supplies, curriculums, toys, etc. Registration and all workshops are *free*. Just sign-up at t
hewaldorfconnection.com

Even though K is starting at a Waldorf school this fall, I plan on signing up for the expo. I feel it is important to continue the teachings at home. Plus, I am planning on homeschooling C (when she is old enough) and it's never too early to start preparing.

Donna has generously offered a wonderful giveaway - an entire set of all the Expo Workshops on MP3- over 15 hours of content. (value $57) You can listen to the workshops again and again, download to your Ipod or burn to CD. An excellent resource to keep for the future, as your children grow or just to refresh your knowledge.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post. If you would like more than one chance to win, post about this giveaway on your own blog and then come back here and leave another comment letting me know you did so. That will earn you two extra chances to win. I will close the comments on Monday May 24th at 8pm PST and then announce the winner later that evening. Don't miss out - I would enter this giveaway myself if I could!

Thank you so much Donna for this opportunity. Good luck everyone!!

Excellent resource. I have a question... what led you to decide to have one child attend a Waldorf school while wanting to homeschool the other?

We have just started our Waldorf journey with our 3 year old son and this resource would be fantastic for us!

The Waldorf Connection is one of the first sites I visited after we made the decision to homeschool. It is truly an amazing resource, and I love that Donna has twins like me!

Thank you for the wonderful give-away from Donna! Yes, homeschooling is a leap of faith, but a wonderful journey! Resources abound here (in Oregon) and once the door is opened you'll be so surprised by love of amazing families that are on the same journey. Blessings to you as you find your path. ~Melanie

My son is 3yrs and we hope to homeschool him and his sister but we are still trying to get a grasp of how that looks with Waldorf. We are in a small town with no families that I know of following a Waldorf inspired home life. Thank you for bringing this connection to our attention. The online community has been such a wealth of information.

Wow! What a huge amount of information she's offering, & generously! I plan on tuning in to what I can, but would love the replays! I supplement at home with Waldorf...thanks for the generosity.

Sounds like a valuable resource! I'm also wondering about your decision to have one child attend school and homeschool another. I'm contemplating the same thing. I have one child with autism whom I'm thinking about homeschooling, and another whom I'm thinking of sending to our local Waldorf-methods charter school (or homeschool her if that what she would like). Anyway, just curious!

Nicole, I wanted to ask you if you are reading that book tittled "painting with children " by Brunhild Muller. I want to buy it but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for small kids, I mean for kinder garden ages.
If you have it, it's possible to know more and less the topics of the book so I can be sure is useful to me right now?
Sorry if I'm asking you this.

I have always enjoyed the waldorf method of education. We don't have a waldorf school where we live, so I've often thought it would be nice to homeschool or supplement public education with waldorf inspired teaching at home.

This would be a wonderful addition to what I have compiled thus far.

Thanks fro the change to win.

That sounds amazing! My DD is only a few months older than your C, so we have awhile, but with the mounds of information out there regarding Waldorf Homeschool I figure we'd better start learning about it soon! This would be such a blessing for us. Wonderful giveaway!

We have just decided to unschool our sone here in England. I am alone in this and am applying some Steiner/Waldorf ideas to great effect but could use more help. Our nearest Waldorf school is an hour away by train. I woul;d use this to develop great activities for the homeschooling group I have just joined. Not many of them had heard of Waldorf philosophy.

Amanda said...

Thank you Donna and Nicole for sharing. We are about to move to the edge of the known universe where no-one has heard of Steiner-Waldorf and the nearest school would be a very long swim away... so this will be an invaluable help.

Great giveaway! We are looking forward to getting back into Waldorf homeschooling in the fall...we've spend the past year trying some other methods of learning, but my heart is in Waldorf, (and I believe it's best for my daughter as well)
I'm sure so many of us moms would love to win this!
with thanks (I SO enjoy your blog...full of beauty and inspiration)

Nicole,
If I win, you may have my copy of the Workshops. =) I combine Waldorf, Montessori, Core Knowledge and Literature to create my own eclectic mix. It works for us, and I'd be so happy for you to have a chance at the giveaway. I'll try to blog about it too, but no promises.

Good Luck dearest!

Unfortunately, living in New Zealand, we can never go to any of the wonderful workshops offered in the States. Thank goodness for the internet, for all the wonderful homeschooler's blogs, and all the fabulous Waldorf materials now available worldwide, wherever we are. Geography is no boundary. I LOVE the idea of this global Waldorf community we have created, and a big thanks to all the wonderful parents who participate. This giveaway is yet another example of the generosity in the hearts of all the Waldorf homeschoolers. Together, we are the change.
